I just got mine from Nite Tide sales, fulfilled by amazon, and mine, as of my jan 5 2015 purchase, has a sell by date of 10/2016, so they are pretty fresh.I have tried a lot of different version of the chocolate covered cherries. Some, like the queen ann brand, are very cheap, and for a good reason. They do not have very good quality. they have cheap chocolate, and the centers, or the cream between the cherry and the chocolate, is very very sweet. That is one thing I like about the Cella's brand. They are sweet (hey, they are a chocolate covered cherry.. they are all sweet), but they are not overly sweet, like most of the cheap brands that I have tried. The cella's brand ones have a creamy, liquid type of center, that has a little sweetness to it, but has more of a rich, or creamy flavor, and is not overly sweet. They are very well balanced in flavor, with one thing not overpowering the flavor of the other ingredients.. The flavor blends together very well.Mine arrived in good condition, and was not dried out like I have seen a lot of other people say theirs were. The only thing I can think of is the people who got the dried out ones, maybe they saw them at a very cheap price and jumped on it because of how cheap they were, and they were probably cheap because of being old stock, near their sell by date. I have seen the same things happen with other candies. You see a really low price, and jump on the deal because of the price, just to find it was a very good deal so they can get rid of the stock before it reaches the sell by date and they cant sell it. better to make less of a profit, or no profit, then to not be able to sell the merchandise and loose money.. I got some hershey's candy bars from amazon a while back just like that. so if you see an extremely low price, I would say write to the vender and ask how old the stock is just to make sure, before you buy.I have seen others say that they received a lot of leaking ones. My guess is, these come in trays of multiple cherries per section. Basically, they have a tray for each level, and each tray has sections that hold 6 cherries per section. They are not individually protected like the smaller boxes of them are. So if your mail gets smacked, or knocked around a lot, then you probably are going to have some damaged ones. It is not the manufacturers fault, but more of the fault of the people handling the package. another person said that they got this larger box then what they are used to, so they were going to put them in the freezer.. Let me just say this.. Chocolate and freezers do not always get along well. and besides, these, at least the ones I got, have over a year and a half sell by date.. Why would you need to put them in the freezer?? just keep them in a cool area and you will be fine.. Im sure that the box of them will be gone in well under a year..Just so you know, the large boxes, where you see 72 in a package, they are all individually wrapped. unless you get the small, or regular sized boxes of this brand, they are all individually wrapped. The regular sized boxes are the only ones that do not have the individually wrapped CCC's. and those are in those plastic tray's to keep them separated and protected. As for these. I really have no complaints, and can not say anything bad about these. If anything, the only thing bad I could say is that I wish that they were a bit cheaper. Other then that, no complaints here. some things to note. If you prefer dark chocolate, dont forget, these come in both milk, and dark chocolate. and if you are like me, these things are addictive.. Some candies you eat a couple and say, hey, I have had enough.. these are not like that.. These are more like that turkey sitting on the dining room table after dinned on thanksgiving. Set them there, and you keep grabbing them not thinking, so if you are like that. Make sure not to open the box next to you.. Open it and take a few out and then go sit down as not to demolish the full box of them in one sitting..
These are delicious and Amazon took pride in the packaging to make sure they were delivered in perfect condition. Foam lined the box and put an ice pack on top! Very pleased with this purchase
The chocolated-covered cherries are one of my favorite chocolates! They are always delicious and fresh. Usually, I give boxes to friends for birthdays or whatever occasion it is. This box showed signs of leakage. When I opened the box to ascertain the condition, I found that each layer (there were three layers) had several chocolates on each layer which were crushed, or leaking the delectable juice from with the chocolate-covered cherries. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed to find them in this condition and, I was unable to gift it to anyone due to the fact that most of the chocolates were sticky. (I presumed that that this happened during the shipping and delivery phase of the process.) Normally, this not the case. I will continue to buy these Cellas Chocolate-Covered Cherries, however, because they are delicious and do make a great gift!
Every single one but maybe 6 were sticky sticky sticky. could not even have these out to share. Wear rubber gloves unless you want to wash your hands everytime you have one.
When it comes to chocolate covered cherries theses are hands down the best. The quality, taste, and overall appearance leaves nothing to be desired. If you have a sweet tooth and love chocolate covered cherries give Cella's a try I think you will quickly fall in love with them to. There's a reason they have been in business for over 150 years with cherries as the flagship product.
These are 1 of my favorite chocolates. When I saw the quantity for the low price it was I had to jump on it right away and get a box. The box that I did receive had been squashed on a side And About 20 of the pc were leaking , But I was able to eat them still. I just wiped off the other ones that were sticky and the chocolates were not damaged and was still able to put out for guests. Wood still buy more because the shipper was responsible for squashing the box. I am glad they were very fresh and not hard or dried out inside. Chocolate had a good flavor as well.
Always good.
I read the reviews first of this product, it has been almost 20 years since I last had these chocolates. and I wanted to experience them again as I remembered when I was younger.I know the common BAD reviews of "liquid centers leak out everywhere." and that in some cases the product looked damaged to where I picture someone using them for batting practice before shipping them out.I took a chance and ordered them. I either got a different factory that made them, or they were from a different pallet or something. They were in pristine condition. They tasted just as I remembered.Other than regular jostling around from being shipped from one place to another. nothing was damaged. and the liquid in tact within the chocolate candy.I'm sorry some had such a terrible experience. But I am of the 70% that will rate a 5 star for such a great product, and let others know I had a good experience and hope others in the future do too. This is such a great candy
