The methods used in creating Gamakatsu hooks is what makes it so superior to all other brands. First, only the most premium grade of high carbon steel is used. This insures against any blemishes in the metal which can weaken the hook. Secondly, Gamakatsu has the most advanced tempering system in the world. Every hook is heated to the exact temperature that is perfect for that particular style and size then cooled in oil. This process produces hooks which are super strong, but not brittle. It is extremely difficult to achieve a balance between strength and flexibility, and it took many years for Gamakatsu to perfect this process. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, our sharpening process is the most modern in the world, and results in a perfectly conical point that is unequaled in sharpness.

08-03-2026I've been using this exact hook for all of my trout fishing for years. The slightly offset barb to shank lets me set that hook almost all of the time. I have caught some really, really big trout, and these hooks have never bent on me. These are so durable, that I have actually caught several trout in one go, without having to even change the hook between catches. I know that this goes against some people's methods, but if I'm catching fish, then I'm apparently doing something right, and this is the hook that I have the most confidence in!

08-03-2026I use these in a size 4 with 12lb fluorocarbon for all my Senko fishing.. Yes there small but I've hauled in some toads with no problem. I like the smaller size as fish seem to pick the bait up and hold it longer. grab a pack of VMC Crossover rings in a 7mil size and you've got the perfect senko set up
