15oz of Wild Bill's Hickory Smoked Beef Jerky Strips (averages 5" to 6" in length). From the company that claims “You don’t need teef to enjoy our beef!”, this tender Amish-style beef jerky is sliced from USDA top round, marinated in soy sauce, garlic and pepper, then hung on rods and hickory smoked to perfection. Production of Wild Bill’s Beef Jerky began in 1983 in the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch country - Lancaster County. Commonly sold out of rubber gasket, wire-bail mason jars in country stores, taverns, and truck stops throughout the United States, Wild Bill’s fans are legion and loyal to this old-fashioned jerky that changed the beef jerky industry. Wild Bill’s whole muscle beef jerky is available in 2 distinct flavors – Hickory and Black Peppered.
I have bought this a few times in the past but this time it seems hard and not as tasty. Maybe a bad batch
I am a jerky fan and I have tried every brand in the world. These are one of the very best on that are available online and certainly the best on Amazon. They have several varieties like Hickory, Peppered, and Original, but I prefer the Hickory. They are a bit salty, but you cab brush the salt off them with a toothbrush or vegetable brush and that cuts it down a bit. They are not soft and red like some, these are hard and leathery, but still you are able to bite off a piece and chew on it for a great texture and great flavor. They have no fat or gristle and are made from the best beef. These are the ones that are in the stores in a jar for a dollar each and you get a lot of jerky for the money, still about a dollar a strip.
I started buying Wild Bill's jerky about 20 years ago when they were just a little operation out of the Lancaster PA area. At that time, it had been almost 20 years since I'd had honest-to-goodness beef jerky made from premium cuts of beef. No frills, dry, salty & chewy with a delicious hint of soy and worcestershire sauce - there isn't a better type of beef jerky on the market in my opinion. Then they sold themselves off about 10 years ago or so, and it's been downhill ever since. The last bag I bought before this one was about 3 or 4 years ago. I didn't love it nearly as much, but it didn't repulse me. It's taken me this long to pull the trigger again and see if they had fixed themselves in the meantime.Spoiler alert: I threw this bag out.The beef was disgusting tasting. You can tell the beef had started to go rancid right before they got to marinating and dehydrating it. I've had beef jerky that's gone bad before, and you can tell when it's good jerky that's gone bad due to age. This bag was definitely fresh jerky, not gone bad (best by date Jan 23, 2026 - today is May 7, 2025), made with rancid beef.$42 wasted because it's a perishable food item and Amazon won't allow returns on that. Do yourself a favor and don't bother giving the new company (Monogram Meat Snack out of Memphis, TN) any of your hard earned $$. They don't care about you, and it's obvious in what they've done to dilute the original product into the horrible one it's become.Good-bye Wild Bill's. I won't miss what you have become, but I already deeply regret the passing of the beef jerky you once were...
The best beef jerky I've tried so far! I've been trying to find the perfect beef jerky for my family and myself, we've tried over 80 different brands so far. Wild Bill's by far, is the best we've tried. If you like real jerky, NOT the moist, soft, stuff like Jack Link's or Krave, to us that type jerky is just nasty, this is real jerky, where you actually tear a piece off with your teeth and chew it for a bit. It's, dry, like good jerky should be, it's tough but the pieces are still tender. The flavor of the original is great, not over powering so you taste the beef, the flavor of the peppered is near perfect, if they could lower the salt flavor by maybe 25% than it would be the absolute perfect flavored jerky. It's still the best I've ever had, I'm seeking the perfect jerky and that would do it. I love it in strips like they cut it, no huge odd shaped pieces, every strip is close in size and the flavor is consistent through each piece. With the peppered flavor, the seasoning is on the jerky, you can taste it in every bite of every piece, which is really nice because most brands have a lot of cracked pepper in the bottom of the bag and not where it should be, on the jerky. If you're expecting bubble gum soft jerky, this isn't for you, if you like the texture and feel of wet, moist, super tender jerky like Jack Link's than this definitely isn't for you, but if you're looking for REAL jerky, seasoned near perfection that you actually have to tear with your teeth and chew like jerky is supposed to be than this is definitely for you. I love it, my wife loves it, as well do my kids. I'll continue looking and trying to find anything that's better, I'm looking to find the very best out there, so far this is it and I will keep bags on hand while we sample others. It's pretty close to perfect for me, so I may not ever find better. It is definitely my go to so far and I will re-order any time we get low on our stock.
When I buy Wild Bill’s Beef Jerky I have a seal a meal I use that after opening. Make it last longer.
The meat tasted fresh and had no detectable connective tissue--that's what you're paying for, here. Beef like this is expensive to produce. I haven't had a better quality beef in jerky. There was too much salt for my taste, even though I'm already on a high salt diet for low blood pressure. Normally, things that taste normal to me taste too salty to others and things that taste normal to others to me taste under-salted, so I was really surprised when I found the salty and soy sauce tastes to be nearly overwhelming. I would prefer a little less salt and soy. The smokiness was pretty mild but that's exactly how it should be when you have a quality piece of meat - enough smoke to enhance the flavor, not to cover it up.
Best beef jerky ever! I've been enjoying it since 2005! No turning back
I love, love these! Have ordered 3 packages now in the last month and a half. Not too hard and not too soft. I love the spice and texture. I just love chewing on a piece and letting it hang out in my mouth chewing for a bit. Oh the spices are delicious.
