I ordered 4 of these Arlington Industries TVBS505 2-Gang Steel TV Electrical Boxes via Amazon Prime and received them 2 days later as usual.I needed steel electrical boxes for a firewall between my living room and garage. I was replacing external conduit running 12/2 wire on a 20 amp breaker with new 12/2 wiring through the wall. The standard steel electrical boxes at the local hardware store are usually good enough, about the same cubic space inside for the actual wire except those don't have a recess which I wanted since I'll be installing hanging utility shelving in front of them. I also needed to install two of them side by side between one stud (one on the garage side, one on the living room side), and they fit with plenty of space left. The depth is also perfect, they push in and almost touch the back, but not quite. I love the easy 45 degree stud screw guides, and the screw adjustments for old construction, I used both.Installing one took less than 10 minutes from: switching the breaker off, testing the wire, tracing the outline, sawing the hole, pushing wire through, clamping the wire in place, wiring the receptacle, and screwing the plates on. One thing to watch out for is obviously screwing the box to the stud. One thing to note, make sure you're not screwing it where wires may be running through the stud. I installed my 4 boxes as such: one has 2 duplex receptacles, another has 1 duplex receptacle and one blank, the next has a receptacle and a low voltage RJ45 CAT 6a, and the last has a duplex receptacle and low voltage RJ45 Cat 6a with 2 RG6.These are a bit more expensive than the simple boxes at the local hardware store, but the recess make it worth it for me. I even bought a plastic 3 gang recessed electrical box for a non-firewall. These were simple to install and fit perfectly in 2x4 (1.5x3.5) framing with 5/8 inch sheetrock which makes up my garage walls. I believe they'd be fine with 1/2 inch sheet rock on 2x4 framing as well since I have a little space behind them with the 5/8 inch sheetrock. Once I purchase new wall plates for them I'll take pictures to post here. It comes with a 2 gang plate with 2 decorative cutouts, but my receptacles are standard duplex (not decorative). I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants a recessed socket, switch, media electrical box, etc.

First time installing something like this...had to upgrade the hook ups behind my TV to hide all the cables. This installed perfectly and gave me more power options. Very high quality. Very clean and professional look. Highly recommend. Make sure you get a drywall hand saw if upgrading from a standard plug. I flipped the junction over and traced around the metal edge for a guideline. Be sure to not cut more than you absolutely need as the decorative cover will only cover the cutout by about an 1/8' all the way around. The supplied screws made securing to the stud a sinch...no hammer and nails required...Oh last thing...the plate is not a flexible vinyl plastic like most wall plates so dont over tighten or it will crack...its very rigid.

This is the best way to install a TV receptacle in a commercial application. The recessed plugs allow the TV to set flush to the wall. I used this with 2 receptacles, behind a large monitor for a laptop display with the monitor plugged into one side and the laptop charger in the other. Installation was a easy as any cut-in box and with the metal box and ears and ample KO's, it is as secure an install as any new work box. It is supplied with a LV divider so the power and LV can be run to this one box if desired. It can be easily removed and reused to add additional cables at a later date. Any Decora accessories will fit. As with most all Arlington products, this is a winner. I would definitely use this box again.

Review for 2 gang metallic box, exactly what I needed for my application, fireplace recessed mount in brick. Extremely sturdy and all cover plates fit very well. Divider provided to separate low voltage. I like it can fasten for new construction or for remodel if it was drywall. Also several knockouts.I do wish they included a couple plastic bushings to protect low voltage wiring pulled through knockouts. (Where I used electrical tape temporarily shown in images).I thought it a little steep on price but after looking at options and after install -- totally worth it.

Mounted in an outside location, uninsulated wall cavity, easy installation. This is along a walkway and I needed to eliminate obstructions for foot traffic. This gave me a clear walk way and appliances remain plugged in 24-7.I can now have a dedicated outlet for a wifi repeater, two standard appliances AND USB. This made my BBQ area a much better work area.Rugged construction, not bullet proof, but not a standard, flimsy outlet box. The weatherproof seal material made a great connection with the stucco wall.I kid you not, I am looking for other places to use this recessed j-box.

I had bought this duplex box a couple of years ago and finally got around to installing it while sheltering in place. The build quality is excellent and the tabs to hold it in place worked perfectly.

This box is very solid and easy to install on new or old installations. It comes with all hardware to support either installation. You will need an appropriate knockout plug connector for conduit or Romex. Mine was installed in an old installation for a quartz fireplace surround.Several things to keep in mind: 1) Read the instructions as the installation method is quite different for old and new construction. 2) There are several bump outs on the face of the box. Make sure you consider that when making a hole for the box. The guy who made the cutout on my quartz measured the back of the box when making the hole and then had to enlarge it slightly for the bump outs.

Looks like a solid product, but the 2-gang cover plate came broken. I'm not sure if it is an standard size cover plate, but this adds an extra trip to the store.

it's a very good recessed box. The company is also very good; i contacted them asking if i could buy a low voltage divider after i broke the one that comes with the box. They do not sell them for this box, but sent one to me for free.It loses one star just because it doesn't have 1/2 KO at the bottom, just behind and at the top.
