This should be a necessary staple in all cupboards-- it is SO GOOD!! Moist and fruity-- the taste lingers and so does the enjoyment. Why only serve it during the winter holidays?I plan on stocking up
I have bought many Fruit Cakes through, including Beatrice bakery, and this is the worst fruit cake I have ever bought. It had to be last years or the year before, as it is all dried out. I ate one small piece and it was so dry that I had to flush it with water. Needless to say, I will never order another Beatrice Fruit Cake. Needless to say, it is An expensive lesson. The rating is one more back of number one A ZERO. I will only order Swiss Colony from now on. Thank you for listening to me. Bad experience.
Very good
Very good fruit cake but arrived crumbled. It's no slicable
I've never cared for fruit cake, but this was very good. Loved that it had just a tiny kick to it. The rest of my family loved it also, didn't last long.
This fruitcake is amazing! Thank you for keeythe old recipe. Anyone looking for a zing cake, this is it.
My wife was complaining that giving one of our adult family members, who already has everything, a fruit cake for Christmas was a bad idea. She said they are always bad and usually get re-gifted. I told her I tried one some time ago that was quite good and decided against "her better judgement" to order one for our family member and ourselves. To her later surprise, this fruit cake was excellent! We got the cardboard-boxed version that seems to arrive fresher as it has a shorter shelf life in a vendors inventory (per other reviews). Seems there's a chance the tin-packed versions may get held over from one to the next Holiday Season if the don't immediately sell....not 100% sure but some negative reviews said their cake was dry and that is not how these cakes are when fresh. Our cake was a moist, sweet, fruit-laden, boozy product that perfectly hit the spot after a beef tenderloin Christmas feast. Paired just fine with a fruity Leon Millot semi-sweet red wine from French Lick Winery. I had another piece (my 3rd or 4th) of this last night (1/17/2020) and kept refrigerated in an airtight container, it was still moist and delicious. Great product that I felt worth the price. The boozy flavor is just that as I'm sure all the alcohol is boiled off in the cooking process. The remaining Bourbon, Rum and Brandy flavors stand out for sure!
I didn’t like the 2 lbs of nuts. In ratio to fruit and batter. Lots of cherries and raisins but the cake has to be refrigerated to slice due to big walnuts in cake that is far too many is why I have it 4 stars. . But I love the batter rum taste. It is addictive. Some will be more moist than others but I add a little more of my own rum across the cake top. They would have a perfect cake if they would do more batter and less nuts. But it is worth it if you like a lot of nuts. This is not a citrus orange and lemon peel cake like some and barely no nuts like the Clax—n. It is a soft butter rum cookie like batter I love. I prefer it to any I have ever tasted.
