08-03-2026This unit was a direct replacement for our Kenmore washer transmission that decided to leak oil all over the floor underneath the washing machine. It was not enough to come out from under the washer so it ran for quite a while without oil until it self destructed. I was able to find this exact match, ordered and installed it fairly easy. We bought this transmission in Feb of this year and it is Jul and its still running great. I hope it lasts another 20 years like the first one did.

08-03-2026Gearcase had leaked a very small amount of oil in bag but was well packaged. Easy installation and fit my Whirlpool washer perfectly. My nearly 25 year old washer runs as well as it did when brand new. Great value as all other new gearcases I had found ran almost $100 more. I originally would have given a 4 star due to it being louder than the original and the oil leak, but it's been installed over a month and the noise has decreased and no sign of any oil leaking.

08-03-2026... and hopefully saved my 40 year old Kenmore to fight another day. With internet help, installation was reasonably straightforward. But the operation is definitely not "whisper quiet," which might be an ominous sign for the future - or not. It BANGS to a stop and BANGS to a start and the agitator cycle has a very loud operating rhythm. But the actual functions seem to work fine - especially the spin cycle - which is what died in my old drive. So - if I had a large family and did lots of washing, the noise might be a real irritating drawback. But I'm not - and I can deal with it for the infrequent times we'll use it. Especially considering the alternative of a ridiculous repair cost - or a new machine that wouldn't fit in the space we have.

08-03-2026Have owned my Sears Kenmore washing machine for over 20 years. In May 2019 the transmission sort of seized up so I purchased this one on Amazon. It was a direct Kenmore replacement from the factory, but the problem is it only lasted a little over 14 months. Changing the transmission was fairly easy and it ran well for the last year until it finally started making A grinding sound when trying to spin. I checked the transmission apart hoping to find a replacement gear, but they’re nowhere to be found. You basically have to buy the entire crank case over again. I put some pictures on this review so that you can see just how inferior this metal gear is. I read a recent review on Amazon for this part and they had the same problem. I guess I can replace the transmission and hope for the best but for $150, I hope it lasts more than 14 months. Hope this helps.
