Delicious Organic Cashew nuts from Food to Live make a great snack. Nutritional Value Cashews are extremely nutritious nuts. They provide you with a mix of essential minerals and vitamins. They are exceptionally rich in B vitamins, copper, iron. Directions Food to Live resealable bag will help you keep the nuts fresh if you close it securely and store them in a cool, dark place. You can store them in the fridge for up to 9 months. . Due to their rich sweet flavor, cashews are often added to sauces, desserts, and confections. They also go well when sprinkled over salads made from either vegetables or fruits. This product is processed in a facility that also processes wheat.
I wish these were vacuum packed with a hint of nitrogen for freshness. I can't complain about the deal though, these are decent cashews for a great price. We go through about a pound per day and have used their product for at least a year now. I also can't give 4.5 stars which would be a more fair assessment. I tried the Sun Organic cashews and they were a little better, but also considerably more expensive.
Taste lovely, great size pack.
After reading many reviews from different sellers, it is apparent that there is a wide variation in quality and size of cashews being received despite the claims of the sellers. I asked "Food to Live" if they were certified organic and what was the date of harvest. His response was that the 50 pound bags from which the smaller quantities are taken are certified organic. Because the smaller packages were not specifically certified he could not advertise them as such. Good answer! The harvest date was newest crop from 2013. The taste is excellent, they are very large cashew with almost no pieces, and I dry roasted them in a Behmor 1600 coffee roaster. These are the best cashews I have tasted in a long time. I have used the raw cashews to make vegan salad dressings and other gluten free foods. Taste and quality are excellent!
Organic cashews can be tricky sometimes. The bag I received isn't the most flavorful, and I need to pay attention to what I put in the blender because some of them are just not good at all. Still, not the worst cashews I've ever bought. The value is on point, and my cashew milk still turns out tasting good. I will probably buy this again because the nuts are ok, just not great, and I need to save a little if I can because we go through a lot. With a touch of effort you can reseal the bag which is useful, although something more like a sack would produce less waste.
A tasty snack and a great addition to Thai curry dishes.
This is my third order of cashews from this company, and I have been satisfied with the quality and delivery each time. The nuts are fresh and I figure I am saving about $4.00 per pound over our local health food store (which is generally too expensive anyway -- guess who I'm talking about...). I've been eating Paleo for about 10 months now, and these nuts are used in quite a few recipes, especially homemade Paleo *Granola; between my husband and I, we go through about 2 lbs per month; also great for snacking with some raisins thrown in. We keep these in the original bag in our pantry at about 72F; not sure how long they will stay fresh, but I would imagine longer than expected if kept in an airtight food container (such as a food-grade white bucket with a gamma-seal lid). We bought an 8 lb bag mid-January 2015, and they are still great.*See the "Vanilla-Almond Granola" recipe in "Against All Grain" by Danielle Walker
this arrived right on time and was fresh and delicious! I will be ordering again very soon
good quality nuts!
I love these cashews and find them to be a high quality nut that tastes delicious right out of the bag. However, I've also used them in a variety of ways....I soak them and use them to make organic cashew milk (with a medjool date or two thrown in for sweetness and a little vanilla for flavor), and it's the best nut milk you can imagine...my favorite way of using these nuts. I've thrown them into smoothies to add creaminess without any dairy, and I also use them to add creaminess while cooking. I've added them to roasted tomato soup instead of adding heavy cream, to cream of cauliflower soup instead of milk or cream, into a variety of pasta sauces for creaminess, etc. They essentially replace milk/heavy cream for me, and you don't even need that many nuts! For example, I made about a quart of the roasted tomato soup, and I only soaked and added about a scant handful of them to give them an amazing creaminess and velvety texture.
These are the best raw cashews I've ever eaten. Fresh, sweet, unblemished and delicious. Excellent product. Here's a recipe for a sort of "creme anglaise", it's really a coconut-cashew cream and it is divine! It's absolutely AMAZING over fresh berries in the summer.Soak 1/4 cup cashews for 1-4 hours in filtered water and strain.Put them in a blender with 2 cups home-made coconut milk (canned-full-fat coconut milk would work too)Blend for 2 minutes and the softened cashers are smooth and liquified. For that real creme anglaise taste, I add a little bit of honey or maple syrup and a dash of vanilla.OMG - Heaven!
These are great. I use them to make cashew milk all the time. Just add 1/2 c cashews and 4 c water to a high speed blender. Easy Peasy. I don’t even have to soak them.
Food-to-Live organic cashews arrive beautifully vacuum-packed. They are the best I've tasted: fresh and ready to toast. I laid my cashews out in a single layer on a foil-lined, lightly greased, rimmed cookie sheet (you need the rim so you can stir the nuts while baking). Then bake in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes, or until light golden brown. Watch carefully while baking, as they burn easily. Stir often to toast evenly. After removing from the oven, I brushed my cashews with melted Kerry Gold unsweetened butter and sprinkled on Herbamare seasoning. When cooled down, they are crisp and delicious. I keep mine in the fridge in a tightly sealed container. They are a real treat and I can't wait to order more!
