08-03-2026The reel has no ability to turn the handle backwards. It’s like the reel is in anti-reverse mode all the time. I have several Pfleuger reels and they are the best. This however is the lousiest version they could have made. I threw it in my spare parts drawer. I’ll never use it. Even the spool is not interchangeable with my other Pfleuger ultra-light reels. A real POS and would never recommend this purchase. Even the rod broke in the first use. It’s cheap and I got exactly what I paid for.

08-03-2026rod looks and feels great dont know maybe im the only guy who knows how to bass fish with a pflueger. all these hub bub about rods snapping. i havenot used it yet cause its been 2 hot and i have no time. first reel i had without an ant ireverse swith on it, im not crazy about that cause i have used that feature a few times but the reel seems ok the president reel seems built more solid but i like the stainless guides on this one i have the apprentice and its a great combo too. caught 200 bass on it easy in a few years paid 55 off ebay this was 52 but the monarch is a 6 footer and seems a tad nicer. enjoy remember if your snagged pull straight back dont rip up thats how u snap rods or just cut the line

08-03-2026Edit: worth the wait. He loves his pole! The replacement was sent quickly and all parts were accounted for.Was really looking forward to giving my husband a birthday fishing basket. Rod came in on time but was missing the top piece. Waiting another week for the replacement, past his birthday but at least he will have a nice trout rod eventually

08-03-2026My favorite rod right now. I have about 15 fishing rods. I have been fishing since age 5 I think. I had many more fishing rods but I slowly gave them away. I just bought this and the way I decided to buy this, is that because I own 2 more Pflueger rods and I love the cork handle on both below and above the reel. Not many company does that. The rod feels solid and the reel is good. I have other combos, but it seems like every one of them had something, that the reel doesn't feel right or the rod itself aint' the best. This one feels so good, that I took 3 other rods out of my car- I always have like 5 of them with me during fishing season. I got another Pflueger, which is 6'6", I like that one too, and I have another 7' which i accidentally bought, because it's ultra light and not the best, unless i fish for very tiny fish. I say get the 6'6 or the 7 version of this, it's a multi species from panfish to bass and everything between. I already caught a bunch of fish with it the other day. It's a keeper and will be in my car for the whole spring-summer-fall.

08-03-2026El producto es muy bueno y de buena calidad.Es de dos piezas y los aros son de acero inoxidable.El carrete es sencillo, tiene algunas partes plásticas, pero funciona bien, es suave, resistente y de muy buena calidad.Al ser una caña ultra ligera el carrete no lleva mucha línea, pero eso es así para todos los de este tipo.Recomiendo el producto para quien busca una ultra ligera de precio accesible y de buena calidad.

08-03-2026Not a bad rod, sensitivity is 6/10, only because it's 2 piece. Rod does seem fragile, has good action though and well made line guides. Reel is consistent and i would give it a 8/10, i lined it with 8lb mono, smooth casting line weight for this reel. Not shabby for a $50.00 combo .

08-03-2026My rod arrived just fine, unlike other reviews that mentioned it arrived damaged. I bought this rod/reel combo because the bale on my old rod was broken and causing issues. Took this rod out for the first time today and managed to land 2 Rainbow trout using 3/8 oz spoons on 6lb monofilament.I'm certainly enjoying this rod! The 7' length really helps when it comes to launching some castmasters out and the reel is pretty smooth. This combo is great for anyone looking for a setup that isn't going to break the bank.
