08-03-2026As a dabbler in microfishing, this is a nice rig which can be attached to pretty much any rod (I didn't spring for a microfishing rod) and will catch you very, very small fish. The only caveat is to be mindful of the presence of larger fish, as my experience is that anything much bigger than 4-5" in length will just swallow the hooks, making extraction difficult, and unfortunately, often dangerous for the fish.

08-03-2026Tying these will test your vision! I've been trying to pull up some small rainbow trout, they peck the bait (worm section) right off a #22 barbless fly hook. I tried these and they do a good job. Set the hook, pull, and in some cases once you net them they spit the hook out. I tie these onto 2.4# tippet, tied to 6 feet of line.

08-03-2026I never imagined I’d be fishing with a hook for these teeny tiny 2” fish. I do this for my kitty. We live on a sailboat and when the bait fish are nearby, I will help kitty out with snacks and fish for her. She knows that when I pull out the small rod, she’s in for treats, literally. These hooks… o m g. I saw another comment about how small they were and kind of figured his man hands would do that. These hooks are finer than my own hair. The thread they are tied with is finer than my own hair. Wow. I had no idea. Dude, I am sorry I doubted you. Truly. I love catching the little fishies and really, it is quite fun. Crazy to do, but so much fun. Kitty loves her fresh snacks that are seconds out of the water fresh. Honestly, I would love to go back to my haunts from back in the day and sit in the middle of a small stream and just spend the day catching the wee fish. They make me happy. Love these hooks!!
