OGIO Layover Travel Bag (Graphite)

My husband and son have these bags because they work in remote areas where wheels need to be solid and 4 wheels doesn't cut it. This has 2 very durable wheels and so many pockets for storage. Once expanded it has to go under plane but can be used as carry on if not expanded. Very versatile.

OGIO Unisex Alpha Layover Luggage:Luggage shops are now dominated by 4-wheel spinner bags, which make great sense in the larger sizes. But for carry-on bags, those spinners eat into available storage space, because they take up 2-3" of what could otherwise be internal capacity. So I always go for 2-wheel carry-on for maximal space.This OGIO Alpha Layover is the current "best available" 2-wheel roller carry-on. It maxes out the dimensions to the permitted 22"x14"x9" for international carry-ons, but also has a zipper expansion of an extra two inches in thickness when checking the bag with souvenirs on the return flight home. EDIT: The bag is actually oversize for carry-on, at nearly 22.7" in length (photo). MMmm.. This is an issue: returning the bag because of that.Lots of pockets, beefy zippers, a good rugged telescoping handle, and grab handles on three sides plus on the front (useful in hotel rooms). Good durable fabric and with wear patches and protective bits around the edges. What's not to like?The reasons for only 3/5 stars here? 1. This bag is oversize in real life, not legit carry-on for any Airline we fly -- it is 22.7 inches tall, not 22", and fails to fit the sizing things at the airport. 2) The design of the bag leaves the main large zipper not only fully exposed, but also protruding: it literally sticks out from the side of the bag. Which means it WILL be rubbing on airport luggage handling systems, and therefore WILL someday get damaged. Hopefully later, than sooner, but probably sooner.Other bag designs don't have that zipper sticking out like it does, or they also have a protective flap of some sort for it. Not this one, and that's a major defect one can see in other reviews here.

A lot bigger than I thought it would be. Perfect for a long weekend away and overall cool looking bag.

I am partial to soft-sided travel bags; this is the best so far. Looks great!I just hope it holds up for my whole travel season and beyond. After all, it's not hard luggage, but quality is there. You can tell by the stitching, handles, wheels, and overall sturdiness. Many storage compartments as well.

I've had my ogio gym bag for 20 years and it still looks brand new. I've been doing a lot more traveling and it was time for a terminal bag, so obviously ogio is my first choice. It fits everything I need for a short vacation. Pockets within pockets to keep everything easily accessible. When I need my next piece of luggage I will be checking ogio's lineup first. Top quality that lasts and looks great for the life of the product. Wish more things were made like this

I bought this bag due to quality and perfectly fitting airline carryon requirements. It is literally the best bag I’ve ever had. I use it for business travel, after having several luggages either lost or damaged.It has several strong carry straps on each side, top and front. The wheels are durable and sturdy. Fits a ton of stuff for its compact size.

Rollability is good, no problem rolls with ease. Zipper works well. Expansion is awesome. There's a pocket for shoes. I just love this bag. Very functional and not heavy at all. Great for the value

The vivid colors stand out from other people's bags for easy identification. It rolls smoothly and doesn't tip or twist. The retractable handle and fixed top and side handles are all sturdy. The interior organization features (two zippered mesh compartments under the lid, and compression straps in the main body) are sufficient for my needs. The recessed wheels maximize my packing space (unlike those awful spinner wheels that waste inches, never roll straight, and break off easily) while fitting into standard US airline carry-on size restrictions.My only complaint is that the exterior pockets both go all the way to the bottom, which may be a plus for some, but does mean they're not great for storing my ID and boarding pass for quick access while traversing the airport.

Erfahrung nach einem knappen Jahr Gebrauch:- Griff ist in zwei Stufen ausziehbar => von der Oberkante des Griffes bis zum Boden etwa 104 cm in der zweiten Sufe, etwa 79 cm in der ersten Stufe- mehrere Griffe ringsum, so dass man das Teil immer irgendwie gut packen kann- das Volumen ist recht ordentlich: hat für bis zu zwei Wochen Urlaub ausgereicht; am Urlaubsort gekaufte Weinflaschen konnten bei der Rücktour durch Aufziehen des Erweiterungsreißverschlusses mitgenommen werden- die Reißverschlüsse sind robust, auch wenn man den Inhalt mal etwas zusammenpressen muss- die Kanten sind verstärkt und somit auch bei härteren Handling einigermaßen geschützt- im Kofferdeckel sind innen zwei abgetrennte Fächer mit Reißverschlüssen, die für kleinere Teile (z.B. Socken oder Sportwäsche)geeignet sind => das schafft einen guten Überblick)- zwei Außenfächer - diese nutze ich allerdings bisher nicht- das Rollgeräusch ist relativ laut (aber vermutlich sind die Rollen entsprechend stabiler)Fazit: Ich würde den Koffer wieder kaufen.

Good quality and nice desugn

This brand is the best luggage I have ever used. My last one lasted almost 8 years of regular traveling. This bag offers plenty of room for shoes , under garments and clothes for a 2-3 day trip along with easy to roll bag. I love OGIO for their quality and durability. Highly recommend this bag. Installs easy in overhead bins on airplanes and easy to roll through the terminal. A+++++++

Used it for over year now, 4 airline trips, one international, and it is easy to carry, roll and store. The size and shape fit easily in the overheads without shoving or maneuvering. Lots of pockets, small and large, work well for packing for a week. No problems so far with zippers, seams, handle, etc.

(Tldr: Great for price, smaller capacity due to design/ruggedness trade-off, design flaw that will lead to failure with regular use.)I have had this bag for a year as I try to transition to carryon only travel. I travel about once a month with this bag around the workd. It seems to be a nice middle ground between consumer grade and professional grade carry-on bags. He shows middling signs of wear and would probably be good for another year before eventual zipper failure.Pros:-Rugged main wheels-Expandable, which makes it a decent checked bag if you are trying to be versitile.-Decent organization.- Stands up well- Double rod on the handle allows for stable attachment of backpack.Cons:- less space compared to a purely rectangular suitcase inside due to a rounded cover.- The choice to reinforce the wheels and add bumps to this reinforcement (to allow it to lay flat )mean you are giving up about an inch of potential verticle storage. On a bag this small you feel the loss. (Pictured)- Design flaw. The handle on the bottom of the bag is meant to double as a stand. Due to the design of the bag, this handle ends up bending slightly, which allows the lower zippers to rub against the floor, (pictured) every time the bag is stood up. (The bag still stands up despite this. This will eventually lead to a lower zipper failure. At one year in, i have modified the bag with a abs plastic skid plate in an effort to delay this failure. (Pictured) I’ll check in next year with a progress report.Overall: I think it is a killer bag at the $200 price point. You will have to go up in price if you want a bag that actually has a reinforced lower. I also don’t know if the reinforced wheels are a good or a bad thing, since mine haven’t failed, but I do notice the lack of space. If you were trying to spend less than $300 on a carry-on bag, I think this is the perfect one. If you have closer to a $400 budget, I would go with something more like luggageworks.
