Arrived safely packed. Put togather ant started up. It was quiet and fast. Printed out few pictures and colors was brilliant. Loved it. Very nice renter recommend everyone. It’s a good value for the price without a nice quality photos.
This is an amazingly cool printer if what you primarily want is reliability, cheap ink replacement, and ease of setup. The photo print quality is a bit below the average, but it's "good enough" for most everyday tasks. What makes this printer special? Not only does it refill with real ink bottles- yes that's right, no more cartridges- but it has large inkwells meaning that with normal document printing you get a ton of use out of one fill. I've been printing replacement DVD covers for some titles whose cases got destroyed, and the printer does seem to guzzle a bit. With a very rough estimation I might get 50 DVD covers out of the color ink at the rate it's going. That might seem a bit average for the size of the tanks, but then again I could refill the printer with gallon jugs of ink from eBay if I feel like it. Works for me!But wait- there's a surprise! Ever had the problem with an old inkjet where no matter how many times you do the "print head alignment" it just won't print correctly anymore? You get lines, or streaks, or missing colors no matter how often you swap the ink? This printer features- drumroll please- real replaceable print heads. Confusingly, Canon calls these "print cartridges", but they're honest-to-goodness print heads you can remove and replace. Theoretically, that means that printer will outlive most of its competition because the two parts that are most likely to break on you- cartridges and print heads- can be totally serviced in this new model. As for the rest? Again, photo print quality so far just seems "okay". I don't have the highest quality paper, but the prints I'm getting don't blow my socks off. They're perfect for the DVD covers I'm printing, but I don't know if the printer could do a glossy 8x10 family photo at the level people might expect. For document printing though, this is a beast with big tanks. No complaints. And it scans, and has the usual-size paper tray, and it has wireless setup, and it copies... everything you'd get out of a normal all-in-one printer. So far, I'm in love. Does everything my old printer did, hasn't had a single print problem after a dozen full-size photo pages, and I can finally put real ink in my printer. I hope it lasts!
I've worked this printer hard for the last 5 years. Initially found it very easy to set up as wireless. It prints very well and has made some very nice photos. Now, it's starting to give me some trouble. It probably will need some repair. Repair these days when out of warantee is expensive. So I'm just just going to buy a new one from Amazon. I highly recommend this printer, especially at this price.
Received the printer in excellent condition. It works like a charm. It is user friendly and I just love it.
gooooood
While this Canon printer is difficult and non-intuitive to set up with no LCD screen, as a former programmer, I can figure anything out if it eventually 'works' but this was silly to get working. You have to scour over numerous Canon old help pages (current ones for this printer were unable to connect following exact directions) and decipher the various morse-code blue blinking lights on the printer to finally figure out how to set it up and then pair with your laptop. The manual and instructions don't jibe with real life, as if those who designed it were asleep (or something else) and this thing didn't connect wirelessly, you have to plug in a USB cable to finally get it to tether so it will finally recognize your wifi. Then finally after getting mine set up, it caused numerous clogs and wasted ink from weekly heavy cleanings. Why? because the pathetic printer design causes the ink to backflow back into the tanks when not in use, causing the print-heads to dry out and require ink-wasting flushing (likely to Canon a "design feature"). Even printing a test page every day did not prevent gravity from proving the product design to be a failure (for the customer). In my opinion, they did this on purpose hoping the customer would get so frustrated they'd buy another more expensive printer...well they were correct if that was their design process...I went back to Epson.Although this thing was a good scanner and gave me no issues there (I made more scans than prints in the ~one year I had it, the last straw was the printer just broke on it's own and jammed, no force used, I just simply put paper in and it jammed the paper every time a print job was sent, I assume a piece of plastic broke off and jammed it, but had no more patience with this thing...into the trash bin. Even in 1998 this printer's software would have been outdated (I used to code web pages and this now in 2022/23 ancient technology is nearly the same as then)..no clue as to why such a major printing company would still sell this low-class level of pure junk to the public at almost $300 with the otherwise smart claim to "save money on ink". DO NOT BUY! (got Epson 2850 also 'ecotank' today, we'll see..so far so good with nice prints, although adjustments will be required..I print my 'good' photo work on Epson 3880 and P800 and this seems to be good proofing printer on photo paper)

1. Page yield of included ink bottles used for initial setup is lower than the replacement ink bottles, as a certain amount of ink is consumed to fill into the print head during the setup (charging the print head initially). Page yield is the estimated value based on Canon individual test method using the ISO/IEC 24712 chart and continuous printing simulation with the replacement ink bottles after initial setup. Page yield of color inks is an average yield of cyan, magenta and yellow inks combined. Page yield varies significantly depending on content printed and other factors. Up to 6,000 (black) / 7,000 (color) printed page yields are approximate, based off document pages printed.
2. 30 ink cartridge sets is based on print yield of the included black and color ink bottles as compared to the following standard-capacity cartridge sets: PG-245 Black Ink Cartridge and CL-246 Color Ink Cartridge as of August 2016.
