Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers' classic 1977 'L.A.M.F.' album performed by members of Blondie, MC5 & Replacements. The sole surviving Heartbreaker Walter Lure is joined by Blondie's Clem Burke, The Replacements' Tommy Stinson and MC5's Wayne Kramer. Captured live at the Bowery in 2016. Includes guests including Dead Boys' Cheetah Chrome. The DVD includes bonus interviews with all four band-members, plus guest Jesse Malin (D-Generation). This live DVD follows on from the remastered, 40th anniversary edition of 'L.A.M.F.' and the reissue of an extended 4CD box set (and triple-vinyl) of the albums many mixes and demos. The release coincides with Walter taking his 'L.A.M.F.' show on out the road again - this time with the Sex Pistols' bassist Glen Matlock, Social Distortion's Mike Ness on guitar & vocals, and again Blondie's Clem Burke. They play in Los Angeles, San Diego and New York at the end of November/early December 2017.
I am so glad I did not go to this show!! On their own - Tommy, Clem and Wayne - are legends. However, this was a mess. Tommy was drunk and hadn't rehearsed the songs, and Clem & Wayne had little feel or swing for the material. These three guys should've worked their butts off to support Walter and a great, great rock 'n' roll album.
Concerto raro e grandioso. Ottima qualità video anche se non sempre ben sincronizzata dato che le riprese sono un mix di due serate diverse. In ogni caso... imperdibile!
This movie would suck if LAMF wasn't such a great record. A LOT of splices slash edits between the two shows. Some were in sync and some were not. One of Johnny's Les Paul Juniors was played by Wayne Kramer and Cheetah Chrome. Neither tried to elicit the sound that JT got out of it. Well played. That sound died with him. Nostalgia is the heart of pain.
Fantastic trip back to CBGB's seeing The Heartbreakers starring the great Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan. I partied with these guys in the back ally way of CBGB's and boy was it cool. What a show man, no one was even close. They had it all and it's a pity how they died so young. But such is that evil Chinese Conspiracy to kill Americans called Heroin. Anyway these guys do the whole rowdy show with class and spirit. Jesse Malin gives the rock n roll performance of his career. Worth every dime of your punk rock cash. BUY!
