Bought this for a trip to florida in October and was needing a nice sturdy spacious leather bag for the flight and abuse it may take. i was able to pack so many items including my 15" laptop, two ipads, a couple of books, headphones, pens, pencils, and all the charging equipment needed for the trip. It was a wonderful bag and took the abuse without any issues. I walked throughout the airports with it on my back instead of over my shoulder while shuffling a 6yo, wife and in-laws. It's so nice that it's going to replace my every day bag whenever we go back to an actual office commute again.
Hi, I love this bag so much! It is really heavy duty and smells like awesome leather. There are straps going all the way around it. Does not have tons of compartments inside but it holds more books that way. Plenty of room for laptop and several sketchbooks. It is physically heavy too but not too bad. My book bags are always heavy.... fits my art stuff. I wanted a thick leather and strong components so I can have for years to come and that is how I found this one.
My step dad lovedddd this!!!!
After a couple months of daily use, this bag still looks great and doesn't show any significant wear, other than the kind of attractive finish darkening that happens with oily, unsealed leather. Note that this kind of leather will show scratches with use. Overall, it's gaining a very attractive of patina of wear. The stitching is rock solid, and the visual and functional impression is what I hoped it would be - function and service, more than features and fashion. Sort of the IT worker's answer to a carpenter's tool belt. It's large enough to accommodate my laptop, tablet and plenty of accessories, a small grooming kit (hairbrush, toothbrush etc), plus a couple of notebooks and such. There's room to store seasonal items like a scarf and gloves, as well. The fact that it uses buckle closures is a big plus: undo the buckles, and have complete access to the contents of the bag.
This leather bag has been great. It looks good and gets many compliments. The leather is full grain, supple but strong. The hardware is of good quality. Stitching is very good. The only negatives I have are the internal divider is not leather and it could have come with instructions on how to convert to a backpack.
I wanted full grain leather, made like things were hand-made back in the 1850's. It needed to fit my 15.6" laptop. It needed an extra compartment for books and papers and a few personal and electronic items. It needed a comfortable shoulder strap, but ideally be wearable as a backpack too when I have to take a long walk in an airport or run to catch a connecting flight. This bag met every expectation (except for one), and more. The only drawbacks are (1) it is so well made from the thickest full grain leather, that it is really heavy, and (2) there is no padded bottom to protect the laptop. This happened to go on sale a few weeks before Christmas and I was able to pick it up for almost 50% off, which made me extra happy.
I was a little hesitant to order this at first. How can a bag so similar to the Saddleback Classic Briefcase be hundreds of dollars less? Was the leather really full grain high quality? Was it really thick leather? Was it really leather at all? The answer is YES the leather is great! The stitching is great! The rivets are great! The quality is great! With a few minor differences this bag is the same as Saddleback. It has the divider inside, but only two interior pockets instead of four. The bottom has two stitched seams instead of none. It is not fully leather lined. The flap is leather lined, the remainder is lined in heavy nylon material. The handle is not riveted but box and X stitched. There is no urethane padding in the shoulder strap. This is a quality bag that looks to last my lifetime (I am 70 so my lifetime may be shorter than yours). If you can live with these few differences, save yourself about $500.00 off the “name brand” and buy this bag.
This is very well made. No strange smells, just nice leather. Bag is a little heavy but works great for me with lots of room. Has a nice small clip for keys as well as some smaller outside pockets that work well for anything I need. Also outer rings that I attach hospital badge and fobs to. Very nice interior pockets for smaller things, one of which fits my small kindle paperwhite perfectly. Love it! have had several compliments about how nice it looks. Fits my journal, lap top other stuff on one side with a nice wider section on other side for overnight stuff at work. Would never use as an airline carryon but works great for me on my 24 hour ER shifts.
