We found these to be a lot of fun for the kids while outside in the garden. They made some mud pies and used leaves and sticks to customize the animal bodies. This kept my kids busy finding the right plants to use. Great for ages 3+ even my 10 year old was having fun making animals.
Very cute and just what I wanted.. yes a great play toy for the kids however I am using these for myself to decorate what ever I want or how ever I want. Right now I will use real plants but later will use Holiday stuff. You could also make them smaller and lightweight for these purposes. For others to find, include in your description: fun, fidget, entertainment, unique decoration, figurines, etc. I ordered this set and the Locomo III set. Originally looking up odd and fun items for my car dashboard. Made well!
From an adult perspective and that of my seven and ten year old nieces, we all very much enjoy the creativity that these sturdy toys allow for. They are solid saw dust composite with the paint mixed in, so there won’t be any paint chips coming off during playtime. They are easy to clean and wipe down with baby wipes. The colors are varied, and appropriate for the different animals, and the size is adequate for ages 3 and up. The basic shapes allow for adult and child alike to figure out what type of animal they are making by adding appendages, whether it be with plant matter, or from items in a craft kit. Since it is snow covered here right now, there are not many options to collect branches outside, but my nieces who enjoy making crafts and jewelry have more than enough pipe cleaners and the like to create legs, wings, fins, etc. for the creatures contained in this kit. Each child really gets to exude their creativity while creating versions of these animals. I am looking very forward to springtime when we will be able to go outside and create limbs with flora. This is a really good toy for year round use, and good for boys and girls alike. This is minor, but I wish the mold seam in the middle of the critters wasn’t so pronounced. Other than that, these are a great Montessori toy that allows each child to make their own creations as they see fit. The price point seems fair considering the materials used and I see these lasting several years.
I love the design and quality of this toy. Bring it outside to make days special!
I bought this for my 5 year-old granddaughter who absolutely loves the outdoors. She has a special bag that she uses to collect her 'treasures' when we go for walks in the neighborhood. i.e. stones, leaves, small branches, flowers. She is going to love making little creatures and playing with them. This is going to be a birthday gift for her, and I know she will absolutely love, love, love it.
I was so in love with this product on the page. Even though it was expensive for 5 little items, I thought, well if they're wood then someone hand carved them, right? No they are compressed wood pulp with unattractive seams. After reading durability failure reviews from others, I decided to return them. Not worth the price for what they are.
Made really well and great for kids imaginative play. Which they need to thrive. So get them off the tablets and into nature and imagine all the animals we can make up! My toddlers love them, and we leave them outside all the time and they still look great.
My kids love playing with these outside. They love that they can get creative with them and add flowers and sticks to create little animal figures. They are not super lightweight but it’s not hard to play with them.
