Ordered these last night - they arrived just as I was headed out to walk my 50+ lb. 8-month-old eager puppy in my urban Michigan neighborhood in the early part of February. How perfect! I immediately sat down & put them on - the rubber crampons slipped on, no problem except the velcro strap didn't fit over my women's 8.5 Sorel boots. The crampons stayed on without the strap, (I'll save them in the included package in case I ever use these on smaller boots) & took me over the black ice, crunchy ice, puddles, powdered snow, compacted snow and pavement that is my neighborhood's urban environment. They held up well & the puppy slipped more than me! For the approx. $20 spent, the feeling of being safe on slippery ice is priceless.
Easy to put on and take off. Great for general walks and easy hikes. Have not tried on more rugged hikes. Will update once I have.Con: over the top securing strap was sewn wrong making it pretty much useless
Great for hiking in the snow!
The quality on these cleats are remarkable.I had good pair from MEC and got these for my wife, after trying these I got a pair for my self as well as they are remarkable compared to the more expensive MEC ones. Easy to put on and the grip is so good,, you cant slip even if you tried! We go to deep hiking trails with our dogs and were with out spikes you can’t go at all without risking a dangerous fall. With these you can run over ice down hill. Dump the Costco or department store ones that have little metal nobs on them they give you a false sense of security,, even my MEC ones which are 10x better than the ones with little metal notches dims in comparison.Just have used them 3-4 times this season so can’t talk about the longevity but effectiveness on snow and ice,,, I give them 10/10!
I bought size XL to use on a pair of size 12 Nats boots and they fit snug just like they should. I walked on a frozen lake with very treacherous ice and little snow coverage, and these crampons worked fantastically! I’ve had 3 pair of ice cleats and these are by far the best. I was afraid that they would dig into the ice too much and get stuck, but that was not the case. I bought these due to a recent MCL tear in my right knee and wanted these to prevent a re-injury. They make me very sure footed. Do yourself a favor, take the other ones out of the cart/wish list that you were looking at, and just buy these ones. You’ll be glad you did! See my attached photo and video.
Love them. I have had quite a few cleats thru my 65 years and these are the best so far. I have yet to use them but they look and feel very solid and with the stainless steel hardware, I expect they will be my last cleats.
So perfect! i’ve wore them ice fishing over 10 times now and i love them! ez on and off. they fold away into case easily and work amazingly!!!!
These traction cleats are easy to mount on shoes or boots. They afforded me a very safe means to walking in slippery conditions, safeguarding against broken bones or worse in severe weather. Great product at a very reasonable price.
This is large size and fits well for my Keen Boots size 10 . I’m just getting ready for the winter vortex next week so I’ve yet to find out if it works for me with snow and ice. I think I will need a pair of walking / hiking sticks
At first, they were great.after the first week of using them one of them ripped. I am going to try to return them. I hike every day. So maybe someone that doesn't use them as much, they may last longer.
With winter now upon us, I wanted to get my wife some ice cleats for when we go for walks in the ravine, and it is slipper with snow and ice. These cleats are super aggressive, and dig into the snow and ice almost like crampons. The larger cleats on the bottom mean that you have really good grip, but make sure you remove them before walking on decks/flooring etc. They do leave puncture marks on the decking. They are easy to put on and take off, but a little more difficult with mitts on. I bought the size 8 to 11, and they fit my wife's size 9 without any issue. I am a size 11.5 and they would squeeze over my tennis shoes, but not anything bigger (light hikers or snow boots) Walking with the cleats takes a little getting used to as they do not slip at all and the spikes stick down just enough that you have to take more deliberate steps to avoid catching the spikes mid stride. I would recommend a less aggressive spike for seniors, to prevent accidental falls from catching the spikes between steps. All in all, these are a good product. I will revisit this review to comment on their longevity, once we have been using them for a longer period of time.
I have worn these on a couple occasions on nearly glare lake ice. They fit my boots well using the recommended size and provide extremely good traction. They also appear to be well constructed and should last a good long time.
These were perfect for what I wanted. Last winter, I slipped while clearing my driveway, and I didn’t want to do that again. These crampons were perfect during the freezing weather this winter. These crampons were great — easy to put on over a set of steel-toe boots, and stable on my feet. Even without the Velcro straps, I found them to feel secure on my boots. I’m sure using the straps would help them be even more secure.Great winter item. The case was nice; I was able to easily bring them with us when we traveled during winter weather, just in case.
