In my quest to find the perfect box to use for my vehicle tool kit, I stumbled upon this. When I first saw it, I was skeptical with it being a hybrid box (plastic/steel construction), but upon initial inspection it appears to be way better quality than all the previous ones I've owned! Starting of with the latches... most all metal boxes and even hybrid boxes, with this type of latch tend to be very loose and will rattle alot... this box latches TIGHT! The handle is also well made and doesn't rattle either which honestly surprised me considering most other brands rattle really bad.Next up is space, this box I got is the 16" version and since I intended to make this my Jeeps roadside tool kit, the one thing every tool kit needs... Sockets! And a good size range too! I currently have 2 sets of tekton 3/8 drive sockets on their included socket rail/trays and with a bit of wiggling, they fit nice and snug! Do note that since the edges of the box are rounded, the socket trays I have in it don't sit flat, however they sit lat enough for the upper tray sit flush as intended.Overall I'm very happy with the quality on my initial first impression! I'm certain that this box will last me a good while!Edit: 1 year 8 month update. The box is still holding up great! Still latches TIGHT and handle hasn't worn out. The box has been predominantly stored in the back of my vehicles and has slid around numerous times and have yet to crack the plastic sides. The only notable wear on the box is that one or two of the rivets for the plastic sides has loosened, but that was expected with it sitting in the back of my cars. I would highly recommend this box to anyone!!!
Mounted this on my small tractor being a Massey 1710 , works good for tools and is well made for myself it has plenty storage space ,and will be buying again
Very good box for small mechanical tools very structured and a good price
Great quality, I use it under my back seat of my truck for wrenches and tool storage for every day use. open and closes good and functions well. Its not a snap on, but is really good for the money. Plastic on the end is better grade then other brands.
I have only had this box for a short time, I haven’t had any problems with it at all, and it seems to be a fairly good quality. It also came with a tray inside it, which wasn’t mentioned in the initial description that I saw.
There is a good deal of confusion in the reviews for this toolbox based on whether it truly is steel sided or not. My video settles that debate once and for all with a magnet test. The tool box does indeed have metal sides. Admittedly, I can understand the confusion since the sides don’t necessarily feel like metal and don’t make a metal sound when tapped with your finger, so if the feel and sound test were as far as one were to go they could be mislead into thinking the box sides are plastic. Going further, with a magnet, reveals though the sides are metal. Beyond this, the box seems well made and put together and a good value for the money. It doesn’t seem flimsy to me and I think will stand up to normal use very well.
This is a beast. I didn't realize that it is actually metal!! I was looking for something to keep my kitchen tools in that would fit in the saddlebags of my motorcycle and this was the right size. After i got it i realized that it was really nice quality. If you need a small good quality, sturdy toolbox, buy this.
Really nice . Quality built. Bought it for grandson who is 12 for Christmas.
