Has protected me while snowboarding several bad crashes. Works great. So great I bought protection shorts also.
I will update this review after I've had this shirt for a while; however, my initial reaction is that it seems well made and, though the padding is light, it seems adequate as a base layer or for 'non contact' sports like roller hockey, which is my intended use. It is a compression type shirt/material so very stretchy. I am 6'2" and 180+ lbs and I ordered the Large size (which is also an Asian XL) and it fits me appropriately snugly--I believe that for me the next size up would be too big, but I'm tall and slim. You don't want it too loose so that the padding can shift. Anyway, I'll update this review in a week or so. Stay tuned.11/26/18 update:Used this padded shirt under my jersey during 2 hours of roller hockey at an indoor rink a few days ago. It worked great. It was cool in the rink so heat was not an issue. I have/had a right shoulder separation about two months ago and it is still a little tender. This padded shirt worked well to reduce the effect of impacts from bodies and boards. It is definitely better than nothing, which is what I had been using and probably why I experienced the separation in the first place. This shirt would not be adequate, in my estimation, as a replacement for real shoulder pads for ice hockey, even beer league or rec league play. It seems adequate for roller. This shirt also comes in a long-sleeved version with padding for the elbows--I don't believe that level of padding would be adequate as a substitute for real hockey elbow pads.
I purchased this shirt for use primarily under lacrosse pads, but also for various other activities (mainly for the rib and spine protection, but the shoulder pads are a bonus). I'm impressed by the quality for the price -- great value. I meant to order the US Size M, and accidentally ordered the Asian size M (US Size S). But, I'm 5' 10" 170lbs and the M size shirt fits perfectly -- snug to the body but not too tight to restrict movement, pads are all in the right spots, and it's the perfect length (stops just below my waist). Hopefully, it holds-up over time. Shoulder pads hit just below the shoulder (covering the upper arm, but not the shoulder itself). Haven't played in it yet, but the pads seem as thick and durable as various McDavid HexPad productions I've had that provided good, basic protection. Hope this product holds-up to continuous wash and use.
Nice shirt, wish the chest and back pad was bigger, don't expect it to last very long if you are hard on clothes
This product is ok but I give it 3 stars because it doesn’t appear to be the best quality and in terms of functionality I can’t really tell if it serves its purpose since I have to constantly adjust it when snowboarding; I feel like the pads move to the side and it loses its elbow protection; the chest part seems ok and doesn’t move but maybe you need to have bigger arms for the arm padding/sleeves to stay still so it didn’t work for me! It’s lightweight and noticeable if you wear a long sleeve shirt without jacket! I don’t really know for sure how much protection they can offer because luckily I haven’t fallen on my back or stomach but I would say you are better off investing in a more expensive product that will give you more protection ; since it’s lightweight , it just seems cheaply made so value for money is 3 out of 10 for me with 10 being the best value !
It was the right size and fit perfectly
I am so disappointed in this padded shirt. I bought this for my son because i wanted him to be extra safe after almost dying from a sports injury. As soon as I washed it at first all individual pads separated from the shirt and were floating around on the shoulders. I really wanted to keep the shirt, so I removed the shoulder pads completely. Then the body pads separated and made it completely useless. What a complete waste of money. What good is a sports shirt that can’t get wet with sweat or water? I just put it in the trash and am upset that it is even on Amazon giving people the feeling it could help.
