08-03-2026We've all seen those "compact" fishing rods at the big box stores. Inexpensive, small, and with non-replaceable parts. So, when I saw this one I thought "nah, can't be". Boy, was I surprised! This is a telescoping rod that is an "actual" spinning rod length (not the 18" model, this one extends to a whopping 6' 5"). I'd classify the action as "medium", but it's still pretty sensitive. The rod sections are said to be made of carbon fiber, and I see no reason to doubt that, as the rod is pretty light. This kit also comes with an actual spinning reel, but the shoe is sized so you can attach your reel of choice, if the included one isn't exactly to your liking. Also included is 100m of the sougayilang 20lb braided line, and a helpful box of lures and various rigs. Now local jurisdictions may prohibit the use of some kinds of line, as well as certain types of lures. As always, check your local regs to keep out of trouble.If all that wasn't enough, the whole shebang comes in a custom-sized nylon case. Was this worth it? Yes! I love the ability to have a complete fishing kit that packs down smaller than a laptop, yet yields all the features of my "everyday" rods.

08-03-2026Heading to Destin Florida where I normally do some inter coastal fishing via a rental pontoon boat. I’m also staying at Sandestin Resort where they have stocked bass fishing ponds. Normally we drive down and I pack fishing equipment from home for this trip, but due to time constraints we are flying this time. I’m familiar with this brand, have several of their reels and I really like the value in them. Figured I would take a shot on this to pack in my suitcase. It is perfect size to pack and it appears it will suit my needs perfectly. It’s high quality and feels durable. I got the 7ft 9 in. One and it is a medium heavy action with 3000 series reel which is a little smaller then I’d like for the inter-coastal portion of my fishing but I’m confident it will hold up. Really looking forward to catching some fish on this rig!!! Also comes with some decent braided line. Planned to buy some power pro line but the line in the kit looks good.

08-03-2026Hands down my favorite fishing pole. This is my second one, last one I dropped in the river. I have no issues stringing my pole, attaching the reel to the rod or extending the pole. When I am done I just minimize all the pieces and everything fits like a glove in the case. This pole is great to keep in my vehicle when I am on the go or when I’m on a fishing trip. It is perfect length to catch some walleye and bass. Decent marked price for the quality of the pole and the real. I highly recommend! I will be buying again for some spares!

08-03-2026This is possibly the worst reel I have ever bought. It's ruined my opening season and cost me far more than I paid for the entire setup. So very disappointed and frustrated with this defective product. Now I have to go buy a different one and I am late getting in the water.
