I bought pompano floats intending to make pompano rigs. A 2/0 Eagle Claw Circle Sea hook is a very common choice for hooks on commercial pomp rigs or instructions for making your own. These floats sink with the weight of one hook, even unbaited.
Way smaller then pictured.
I picked these up to do my own surf fishing rigs. They are perfect size for what I'm targeting. I will easily be able to use these for Croaker, King mullet and the occasional flounder. The size should be able to keep my sand flea off the bottom and the color will help attract them.
pretty good floats, I would've given it five stars but the holes in the center are a bit small for the line that we use out here on the coast.
Fantastic for making your own high-low/dropper rigs for pompano fishing. The hard but buoyant foam holds up well when the toothier critters get a hold of your bait. Great colorfastness and the large ones are perfectly sized for my particular use case, while also being great for keeping your bait away from the crabs when using a fish-finder or other 'free-floating' bottom rig.In either case, plain old round toothpicks can be used to peg the float to your line if you want - just jam one in and clip it off. I've got plenty for now, but will definitely order more as they get replaced/lost.
Great floats on a double dropper Pompano rig.The orange color is a great attractant!
I'll start this review by saying that this is strictly based on the look, feel, and use in tying pompano rig. I haven't had a chance to get out to the surf to fish yet, but so far the quality seems perfect for my needs.
I like how small and bright these are. I've got them on my kid's fishing rods and they work great. They're very easy to see with how vibrant the color is and they react to the smallest disturbance too. My kids have been able to easily tell when to set the hook due to the action on these. I would buy more if I ever run out.
