The most popular PENN combo is now stronger, smoother, and more durable than ever before. The Battle III reel features our proprietary CNC Gear Technology for ultimate durability, and the proven HT-100 carbon fiber drag system provides ultimate control during the fight. Each reel model is factory matched with graphite composite blanks and premium cork and EVA handles. PENN's proprietary one-piece stainless steel Dura-Guides eliminate guide insert pop outs, one of the most common issues with traditional rod guides. With available models suited for light inshore, surf, nearshore, and heavy offshore applications, the Battle III combos have what you need to tackle any saltwater gamefish. Also available in travel models (noted by TRVL in model number) in 2 of our bestselling models. Saltwater breeds a different kind of angler. It toughens you. It cures you like bacon. It leaves you thirsty for the next fight. Hard core saltwater anglers need equipment that is as tough as they are, and as reliable as the rising tide. At PENN, we've been testing the limits of saltwater fishing since 1932, which is why our reputation for durability runs so deep. PENN. LET THE BATTLE BEGIN.
Product:Penn is always going to be hard to beat, even with their older models. The quality of the reel for this price (even including the rod) is well worth it. I bought this setup for surf fishing specifically to catch Bull Reds and of course loads of sharks that come with the SC territory. The first time using this setup, I was able to bring in 2 monster Bulls, 6 small sharks, and a catfish within two hours. I lined the reel with 40lb Braid and had absolutely no fear of the line snapping or the reel not being able to handle heavy fish. Given the water action, I was throwing a 4oz pyramid weight.Seller:Prior to purchasing, I was reading a lot of negative comments about the packaging. It seems many people have had to order replacements, which is never fun. My order came in one piece, but was by no means packaged super thoughtfully. I Ordered hoping it would come unbroken and gave the seller the benefit of the doubt.*To the seller: I highly recommend at least using some foam wrapping around the rods when placing in the boxes. This would lessen the probability of shipping related issues and save you some harsh reviews!Overall, great product.
Really enjoyed fishing with this rod, it has a really nice bend to it and due to its flexibility can cast really far. I mostly used it for popping, jigging, shark fishing and trolling, where it provided great sensitivity along with great control over the fish. I also want to comment on the durability of the rod, over the two weeks I could fish I threw this rod around, not cleaning it at all and the reel is running as smooth as it was when I got it. Overall this rod is very versatile and can be used for anything from jigging to casting. I recommend NOMAD PANDERRA 8X BRAID LINE(50 or 65lb) as is used this braid to catch a 18 kg barracuda. Also the lure weight on the rod is from 20 t0 65 g I believe could be a bit higher.
packed nicely and quick delivery ,,first time using today 1/12/24 so i put 12 power pro and went out to river to try , reel performed very well bell triggers over nice with not much force 12 pound power pro seem to be a good match , casts were in the 250 ft range using a 3/0 1.8 oz paddle tail bait , eyes seem sturdy and smooth not a lot of noise in eyes ,rod has just enough flex to handle a fairly size fish ,i caught a 15 LB snook and it did not hesitate to land it ,drag is smooth and reel worked smooth also like the blue and white color .,all performed well better than i expected it to , i am a avid fisherman with 1000s of logged hours and many years of fishing and have other reels way more costly ,but i can say i will buy again ,( hope this helps ,,
I can’t complain. It’a very smooth and quiet when you reel it. We love it!
I have only used it once, but I love Penn rod and reels. Almost every thing I have is made by Penn. It seems sturdy and I believe it will last me a long time. Got it for surf fishing and it’s lighter weight than the other brand I have. I would recommend.
Unfortunately the rod was broken and I am still trying to get this settled
Guaranteed this pole makes it's way onto the boat or in the car for every single fishing trip I go on!!! I purchased the 7', medium fast rod and it can literally do it all (inshore, offshore, boat, surf). The graphite composite rod is lightweight for all day use in the ocean and does not exhaust my arms, but still heavy and strong to pull in a 15 lb fish. My typical use is in the bay for fluking and it works great! I am always bringing home some dinner for the family!! The full metal body reel is incredibly smooth with carbon fiber drag washers. Be sure you rinse it throughly with fresh water after returning to the dock as the saltwater will cause corrosion if left to sit.I have purchased a number of more expensive rod and reel combos that are not nearly as good quality as this Penn III for the price. You will not be disappointed in the durability, versatility and ability to reel in the biggest catch in your group! Worth the money a hundred times over and will absolutely be buying another to add to my collection soon. The cork handle is a wonderful addition for added comfort and grip, plus it looks really nice!
Muy bien empaquetado el producto con mucha delicadeza, tenia miedo de comprarlos por posible daño en la transportación pero me sorprendio mucho el cuidado con el que llego, excelente producto mejoraron sin duda todo, volvere a comprar productos sin miedo.
Great value and quick shipping on a quality product. The packaging needs improvement. The Rod & Reel Combo arrived wrapped in bubble wrap, and most of the rod guides were bent. Fortunately, I was able to bend them back to the proper position without breaking them. Shipping the rod in a durable rod tube and shipping the reel in the original Penn box would be a huge improvement.
Me gustaron las anillas metálicas anti fricción,el equilibrio del equipo entre la caña y el Reel .El largo justo para realizar una pesca en Spining tanto en agua dulce como en el mar .Realmente es muy recomendable.
Caught a 40lb and a 25lb amber Jack slow pitch jigging with this outfit. I was the only one out of 3 to catch fish. Would highly recommend. The rod was bent in a tight U and didn’t break.
While I only visit the beach once a year I was getting tired of ruining my bass reels with the harsh saltwater that I would always neglect to rinse off after each trip. I’d hate to know how many reels I ruined.I finally decided to buy a saltwater combo and I am so glad that I did! This thing is a beast! The reel is smooth and the drag is the best I’ve seen.I like this combo so much that I use it back home for bass and catfish.
Tip was broken off when I got it. For $200 I would at least expect a box or something more secure to ship it in. Not just a plastic bag. Also for $200 I would expect it to be more durable. Lesson learned. Will not be buying again.
