7’, 4 piece rod. Fantastic! Built a little stiff for medium but it is a 4 piece. Feels good for casting and Might be heavy enough for surf fishing with up to a 2 ounce weight. Haven’t fished with it yet but needed multi piece rod for flying. No doubt this is gonna work great as I usually target Snook, Redfish, and Trout.

For any angler this rod is man made wonder. Be it class, quality, budget, handling, sensitivity or build it excels every parameter. Must buy.

I've been an avid angler for years now, and I've gone through my fair share of fishing rods. However, none have quite impressed me like the Ugly Stik GX2 Spinning Rod. Exactly what I wanted. I recently purchased this fishing rod to take on a canoe trip to the boundary waters/Quetico with friends. Part of this trip was flying, part driving, and part packing-in and portaging canoes and gear. To my surprise, I managed to get this rod packed inside of my 2-man backpacking tent bag and it traveled effortlessly every step of the way. No one but me would have even known I had a fishing rod with me at any point on this trip other than while I was fishing.When using it, I found that the 6.5 ft length with medium action on this rod was very close to my non-packable rod with the exception that the tip stiffness on this rod is a little more sensitive than my 2-piece rod of the same size and rating. In every respect, it fished quite well and I got the best casts I've ever experienced in my life using this in combination with my Shimano spinning reel, and brand-new Trilene "smooth casting" line in 10lb test. Unbelievable distance, even with light lures, and perfect placement of casts, as well. My buddies were in awe and they're all bigger than me!I landed a lot of good-sized smallmouth bass, a few average Northern pike, and even one 10 pound, 32 inch Northern on this trip without even a shiver, creak, or squeak out of the rod. It felt quite capable of handling everything that came its way. I am sure I never took it anywhere near its limits of strength even though several of these fish bent it in half with the tip down into the water while they went under the canoe.I can't say that I am an avid fisherman but I do have many years of fishing under my belt and I can attest that this rod is excellent in every respect. My packable rod was the only one in our group that didn't take up any headroom in our van on the long trip to the North woods and back. It also portaged effortlessly since it was inside of my backpack in my tent bag. All the other rods we had with us needed to be carried on portages. I only wish my buddies were as focused on the functionality of their gear as I am! Traveling would be so much easier and more comfortable for all of us. For the others who flew in, in addition to their usual luggage, they also had to contend with carrying their rods on airplanes in carrying tubes...and risk losing them. The pack rod just makes so much more sense on every count.For all but those who may be very hard on their gear, it is my opinion (based upon this one trip) that this rod is a winner and would be handy for anyone who fishes. It goes together and comes apart easily, stores neatly and securely into its own carrying tube, and is a perfect solution for all portability needs. All this with little or no noticeable sacrifice in fishing performance (with the possible exception of very hard use and/or extremely large fish). What's not to like? I have already recommended this to several others and will continue to do so.

i really love this brand of rods , i wish they still made the Shakespeare 702med. 7 footer, this is the replacement of that rod, the only different with the 702 med, to the GX2 med is 4#s different in the line rating the 7footer is rated for 6-15 # , and 1 more is med. heavy 8-20/ ? i did an experiment to the 2 pc. rods, in the front half of the tube i spray a 2 part foam onto the rod holding the opening forcing the foam to go forward to the tip, then listen to the foam pass gas , then released the thhole opening til it hardened up . did the same to the lower half of the rod, let it harden then capped both ends with an #2 pencil eraser to plug the holes super gluing it to the erasers, let dry, the next morning went fishing, caught a 3# trout on the line , the rod had still the fast action on the tip but smooth!, it bent at the 4 th eye and forward making the rod have more backbone in pulling on the fish, . i think in time that this should cure the problems that i see with rods breaking , the ugly stick is dam near hard as hell to break , but did the same to a Goture rod, and it improved the preformance of the rod 100%, . the Goture rod are said the break easy , i dont think so?. will update in 3 months from now,. i notified Goture rods and told them what I did to the rod, and therenow in the starting stage now , testing the rods with the spray foam in the rods. . they also offered me a job to help out with the experiments of the construction. im taking it,?

great feel with the grip a good value good size and I think it will catch whatever I use it for so has good versatility has a nice weight at one time I wuold not buy O but I got to looking at their new model and thought I had to have one now I do can't wait to put it to work

I bent this rod almost in a circle. Enough to break most rods. It held the bend, and the fish till I landed it. Great price, for a great rod
