This lantern soft box is pretty amazing. It does everything I need it to do and is a lot cheaper in price than a lot of the other competitors.

There aren't words to describe what utter **** these lights are. Right out of the box it was obvious that they were pretty poorly designed and not terribly well constructed... but that was fine, all that really mattered was the basic functionality. During overly complex assembly despite the small number of components several pieces actively resisted. Once together I unwrapped the remotes which it was immediately obvious were not designed for the units.The controls being worked out, another issue promptly became obvious... these units have hot spots. The diffusers/front covers are barely functional beyond the lowest light level. Additionally, both the construction of the heads and the positioning joint are too weak for even a rather light weight cloth to be draped over. The strangely heavy bulbs themselves are often enough weight to cause the unit to gradually tilt downward.Then there's the bulbs... these bulbs get bizarrely hot for modern lights, especially for not getting terribly bright. Arguably as hot as some incandescent stage lights.... so maybe the entire engineering budget went to how to use these particular bulbs without melting or igniting all the other cheap poly/plastic head components. Within months of use they began to have periodic flicker and phase. Then one suddenly began turning itself off... seemingly a short in the cable or connection to the fixture despite barely having been moved let alone experiencing rough treatment.Six months later one only periodically works. Both regularly droop and would need to be propped up for any lengthy use. They occasionally, without warning, slowly telescope down... again, under only the weight of the lightbulb. I tried to physically move the more consistently functional one today and POP! the hot lamp, somehow seemingly having unscrewed itself over time shot forward from the spring loaded mount (because these things 'pop up' by screwing in the lighbulb) striking the front diffuser panel as the entire head rapidly folded in on itself.Thus I'm writing this review while waiting for the bulb to cool enough to do anything about the situation. These are ridiculously bad, poor quality products that should honestly be removed from Amazon over safety concerns. Buy a different kit, even if they're far more expensive. These are an absolute waste of money.

Great set for a small recording setup. I needed some soft boxes for recording content for an online course I made. They are very easy to setup. I did add a sheet of tissue paper under the diffuser of my key light to make it a little softer, but the included diffuser was fine for the rim light that was further away.

I returned them immediately because when I turned them on there was an electrical burning smell.
