Ice fishing rods are lightweight, sensitive, and powerful, and they hold up well in cold weather.
This compact fishing tackle kit is perfect for hiking to the backcountry and fishing tight spots. Very well made and the reel is precision. It's a great deal for what you get and easy to store. This would make a nice kids gift for a first fishing trip birthday.
Great rod combo . Especially for the price
I recently purchased the WIDDEN Ice Fishing Rod and Reel Combo, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. This compact and lightweight setup is perfect for any ice fishing enthusiast. The rod is incredibly sensitive, allowing me to feel even the slightest nibble from the fish. The reel casts smoothly and has a reliable drag system, making it easy to set the hook and fight against even the toughest fish. The combo is also built to last, with durable materials and a comfortable grip. Whether you’re a seasoned ice fisherman or just starting out, I highly recommend the WIDDEN Ice Fishing Rod and Reel Combo. The 27-inch length of the rod is ideal for ice fishing, providing ample casting distance while still being easy to maneuver on the ice. The medium-light action is perfect for a variety of fish species, allowing me to catch everything from crappies to perch. The reel comes pre-spooled with a suitable line, so I was able to start fishing right out of the box. The included carrying case makes it easy to transport the combo to and from the ice, keeping it protected and organized.I’ve been using this combo for several months now, and I’ve had nothing but positive experiences. The rod and reel have performed flawlessly in both cold and windy conditions. The sensitivity of the rod has helped me land numerous fish that I may have otherwise missed. The reel has been reliable and smooth, even after hours of continuous use. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with the WIDDEN Ice Fishing Rod and Reel Combo and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality setup for their ice fishing adventures. The price of this combo is very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the components. It’s a great value for the money, and I believe it will provide years of enjoyment for any ice fisherman. I’ve already recommended this combo to several of my friends, and I know they’ll be as happy with it as I am. If you’re in the market for a new ice fishing rod and reel, I urge you to give the WIDDEN Ice Fishing Rod and Reel Combo a try. You won’t be disappointed.
Wouldn't recommend to anyone who's serious about ice fishing
i use in a jig stand, no complaints
Our grandson was thrilled with it
I live in southwest Oregon and we really only have one high altitude lake that freezes over well enough to (safely) accommodate ice fishing. I've been wanting to give it a try but caution (I have nightmares about falling through the ice) and lack of dedicated proper ice fishing gear has thwarted me thus far. I checked out the Widden combo when it arrived and found positives and a few negatives. On the positive side is a nice little all glass 27” rod with enough stainless steel guides to spread the load of a large fish over the totality of the bend in the rod. The grip is EVA foam which is all that is needed for this little number. Both the rod and reel have a nice looking red/black coordinated color scheme. The reel advertises 3+1 ball bearings. Although the reeling motion is easy and smooth, the bail does not continue to spin for very long after you stop cranking. The bail closure is unfortunately somewhat hard. If you have a bit of space before you hit the bail trip, it flips over with relative ease. On the other hand, if you are already up against the bail trip and there is no space to build up momentum, you will have to exert some force to get the bail to flip. For most adults this is not a problem, but if you are teaching kids or novices to fish, this could be a significant impediment. The spool (all metal BTW....yay) capacity is unusually large for a 1000 series sized reel. The capacity print on the reel spool advises 290 yards of 4# test. Yikes! Curiously, Widden only includes a 150 yard spool of 4# test. I didn't even bother with the Widden line and instead used my own 6# line (see photo). Prior to the dead of winter, I plan to test this rod on one of our lower elevation local lakes. I think the tiny rod will be a blast for catching planter trout. The $20 price point is about right for what you are getting. A firm four stars at this point.
Love it
