Update 6/28/25: Ok so, there are some oversights in the design that we did not realize initially. I may have to remove some stars if I cannot find solutions, so keep an eye on the updates.Newly found problems:1. There is seemingly no way to thoroughly clean this thing.2. There seems to be no way to completely drain the unit itself. Water collects in the bottom, on the inside of the unit and there seems to be no simple way to get to it... Might have to whip out some screwdrivers and actually open it up, and that is not ideal... At All!!!You can imagine the issues that have come about due to this stuff. These few things are really problematic as far as long-term use. Unless we are missing something, this is kind of bad. Especially for something so expensive. We are going to try some things to clean it, like vinegar or whatever we find in our research on the problems, grab a new filter because we do run a ton of water through it and as mentioned in my original review, our water is pretty bad. Will give it a bit more time before I conclude on it completely but as it stands, these small issues are actually major in the long run.The instructions mention nothing about truly cleaning this thing... It just says what we believe to be "The Obvious". Nothing about deep cleaning.I will keep updating this until I reach a final conclusion.Begin Original Review Here:The water here is horrible. Like, we simply do not drink it. While I've seen worst, our water is not good. That said, we buy gallons of water regularly and use that for everything consumption related. Then, we got this machine and gave it a shot. So far, so good!- Initial set up is not difficult, however, it is long and tedious. None of the steps are hard but you have to cycle through 6 containers of water before first use. I feel like a simple change in design would remove the tedious part of this step. I am going to say this so I hope you listen. You can make this machine more versatile by adding an in/out hose hookup on the back of side that allows it to be connected directly to a water source. Make it optional so it can be used connected or disconnected. Make this connection have the ability to flush the new filters automatically, eliminating the need for the user to cycle through 6 containers of water, smh.It is slow. While it does give you water withing only a few mins, it still does it at a slow pace. You are not getting a cup of water "Right Now", but you can have one in a few mins lol.It is rather large. Has a pretty large footprint. Initially, I thought it was much larger as I unpacked it, lol. But it is just initial appearance. It does get a little more compact as you put it together. Still large though. In the end, other than some minor inconveniences as mentioned above, this thing puts out water that tastes very similar to the bottled stuff we are used to. This saves a bunch of money because a single filter does many times the gallons of water we would get at the cost.I would recommend such a thing for sure, especially if you have bad or harsh water.
No more running out of distilled water for the CPAP, no more cases of drinking water in plastic! No more crusty buildup in the coffee maker! This device has been absolutely LIBERATING. I cannot recommend it enough. This has been a gamechanger for our family and has dropped our plastic waste drastically! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS THING.
I didn't think I was a water snob, but I may have been wrong. The tap water here is passable, and has always good enough for me. I've been drinking it for years with no real complaints. It's my wife and kids who insisted on wasting money on bottled water. Then this machine arrived. Setup was simple, if a little tedious. Running the device through 6 full cycles before keeping the filtered results seemed excessive, but wasn't difficult. After that process was complete, I took the contents of the next batch and poured it into a 40 oz steel tumbler I keep next to the bed. Drinking from the tumbler while watching television was... mildly shocking. It was impossible not to notice the difference. The filtered water is so much better than the tap water I've always been good with. The 12 cup picture of filtered water is large enough to accommodate most common use cases, but if you need something like a gallon of filtered water, be prepared to wait. Refilling the 12 cup picture takes several minutes. We have a 14 cup coffee maker, and a little trick I've learned is to start my morning coffee process by triggering a 17 oz pour from the device so that while it refills the picture, I am getting the coffee maker ready. By the time I am ready to pour water in the coffee maker, the machine has nearly finished refilling the 17 oz I dispensed, and I now have a full 14 cups ready for the coffee maker.A feature that gets used much more than I expected is the on demand hot water. My wife and kids all use the 203 degree pour when making their daily tea, and they all love it. I can only hope this machine is built to last, because other than the refrigerator, it has quickly become the most frequently used appliance in the house.
I've had this unit for about 2 months now. I used to have a water distiller unit, too much work. So far I love this unit, much easier to take care of yields a lot of water daily, much more than the distiller unit. I really like the hot water and volume selections, the overall design very modern and fits on my island counter top well. My only small pet peeve is that both the pitcher and supply tank when removed from their station drip about 2-3 drops of water from the bottom seal area. Minor issue though.
This item is so convenient, pretty, and compact. But the most important thing is the quality of the water. I poured water for a few hours and tested it. The TDS test result was an average of 150. This number is not drinkable. The manual says the water quality is very good. But I can't believe it. I really need a water purifier, but I returned it.
