KastKing lists this as a feather light rod. Other manufacturers call it an extra ultralight. It is rated for 1to 3 pound line and 1/64 to 1/10 oz lures. It is a fast action rod. The blank itself is thin with a good back bone. The tip is not whippy despite its thin size.I have this paired with the zephyr 500 size spinning reel. The rod is well balanced with the 500 size reel and the rod seat is very comfortable in the hand. I use 2lb copolymer line and I can get a good amount of distance on my casts despite the shorter length. I have caught a couple of 10 to 12 inch bass and the rod handled them with no issues. This is a very fun rod for catching small creek fish. The black and orange color scheme looks really good. Overall this is a good little rod for small stream fishing and it is a good value for the price.
Very lightweight and very good action for Finesse Fishing. Very enjoyable to go fishing with it - good balance and good quality for a reasonable price.
Great entry level BFS rod for the money. The rod is very light and casts 1/16oz lies like a dream. I have the rod paired up with the KastKing Kestrel reel and it’s very well balanced and light weight. The rod has an extremely fast tip which is perfect for slinging light baits.
Love the kastking Zephyr rod. It a two pieces so it make easy to storage and carry to go fishing. It very light weight and the grip hold very comfortable to hold. Love it it perfect for a spinning or baitcaster reel. Will recommend to other.
I've seen a lot of comments saying good things about this product, that why I decided to order it. Well it broke when i was testing it.
I bought the KastKing Zephyr BFS rod (model krdcstzp-bfs69l3bk), and overall, I’m still happy with the purchase — even after a couple of unexpected issues. This is a 3-piece rod, and the top section snapped while I was trying to untangle some line and bent it a bit too far. I repaired it with a rod repair kit from Amazon and kept fishing. A few days later, the same section broke again in a different spot while I was pulling it out of its protective rod sleeve — not sure what caused that one. I repaired it again, but decided to reach out to KastKing support.I usually don’t bother contacting customer service because of past bad experiences, but this time was different. Winnie from KastKing made the whole process super easy. I gave my Amazon order number, sent some pictures, and they shipped me a replacement rod right away — it even arrived faster than expected. Great service. Thank you, Winnie! The BFS (bait finesse system) market is pretty limited on Amazon, but the Zephyr rod and reel combo is a great option. I’m running it with Sufix 832 braid (8lb) to a 6lb Sufix mono leader, and it casts beautifully one-handed.One thing I learned after buying: most anglers get a left-handed reel so they can cast with their right and reel with their left. I bought a right-handed one, so now I’m learning to cast with my left hand — but I’m okay with that.I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars only because of the durability issues with the top section. It’s a great rod, but I think that part could be a bit stronger. That said, the company stood behind their product, and that means a lot.If you're looking to get into BFS fishing and appreciate solid customer support, this is a great setup to start with.
Great light rod for finesse fishing. Works extremely well for light weight lures comboed with the zephyr baitcaster. Very solid versatile for entry finesse systems without spending a fortune, always a rod i can go back to, even with owning shimano curado and daiwa tatulas
First impressions of the ul, rod is just that ultra light, paired with 10lb 832 braid seems to be a great combination. The reel used is a zephyr 2000 and the combo seems to hold up extremely well. The sensitivity is amazing, caught some blugigi, and even a 2 lb gasper goo. Do not reccomend any boat flipping as it is an UL. Would purchase again for sure. Its a nice introduction into UL fishing.
