Good quality materials. Comes with enriching you need right out of the box. Instructions make it easy to use and understand.
This works really well and is surprisingly quick. Pretty easy and simple to use too. I like that this can be used to purify in bulk rather than just drinking straight through it like some other options on the market. The water tastes good and this is great to have for traveling or to keep in an emergency go bag. It is a big too large for hiking though!
I’m an overlander, not a backpacker.I already own a Guzzle H20 Stream, and, but wanted an equally robust, simple to use, effective, high volume backup without the luxury price tag. Enter the Trailgo Tactical XR. It does everything the Stream does minus the UV. If I add a Steripen or boil it then it’s equal minus the manual pumping. Maybe some of this overkill, but when things you can’t even come close to seeing can kill you in agonizing ways in a matter of day, it pays to be paranoid. The pump is easy to use and does provide water at the advertised rate. It appears to be extremely durable, and the various parts disassemble easily for maintenance and repair.I do have a couple issues, but they’re not enough to detract from the rating. They are as follows:The only place I’m able to find replacement filter stages seems to be on Amazon - the company doesn’t appear to have their own website. There are two discrepancies in the manual from the listings. One pertains to the post filter - listings on Amazon for the complete unit and the replacement state 10000 liters, the manual states 5000. The other pertains to replacement filter cartridges - the manual states TE-391C, Amazon shows post filterASIN B0DN7HY9DF, Model # TRF05 and ceramic filter ASIN B0DJ5YMC2C, Model # TRF04.I’ve written Trailgo to address these questions. I also asked if there are other filters that are compatible with this unit - particularly the ceramic filter since that has to fit in their housing. I’ll update this review once I have a response.Update with customer service response (they responded quickly and clearly. My update is late:“The lifespan of the ceramic filter (B0DJ5YMC2C) is 10,000L and the post-filter (B0DN7HY9DF) is 5,000L. The model # of the ceramic replacement filter (TRF04) is the same as mentioned in the Manual (TE-391C). One is internal, the other is an external, Amazon-facing designation. Both filters were designed and created specifically for this product. While there may well be other replacement filters available that would work, I don't know of any offhand. We have updated everything on Amazon to align with the correct information. It should populate on the backend shortly.”And yes, the company is working on a website outside of the Amazon ecosystem.
The Trailgo Tactical XR Water Filtration System is rugged, reliable, and easy to use. Its high‑volume, 3‑stage filtration gives me clean water fast, whether I’m camping, hiking, or preparing for emergencies. i have not had a chance to use it for repeated high volume applications but I keep it on hand in case of emergencies.
I have a First Need XLE water filter as well as this one, and in terms of speed and effort to fill a similar size container I think they're roughly even. I tested this with some water I intentionally made dirty (by tossing dirt in it) and then pumped it into a glass and it was clean and clear enough that I drank it without a concern. I do have a couple of issues with it though.1. It's tough to manage the 'output' hose. This is probably my biggest issue with this filter and the reason I'm knocking a star off. You can put the output tube into a bottle, but then since the third stage filter is on that output tube, it's going to knock the bottle over, or fall out and drag the tube out of the bottle with it. Since you need two hands to work the pump, that turns this into a two person operation with the second person sitting there controlling the output tube. It SHOULD have had a threaded end on the third stage filter so you could thread it onto the top of a nalgene bottle or something similar.2. It leaked around the shaft of the pump. Not enough to stop it from working, it functioned fine but it did make me question the longevity of this a bit. They did include an o-ring with the kit, but there's no indication anywhere in the instructions where that o-ring should go. I suppose when it fails I'll find it?3. It's a bit bulky/heavy for any kind of backpacking trip. With the addition of the pre and post filters, that makes it harder to bundle up tightly and get it in a corner of your pack. Makes this really a bit more of a car camping filter, which limits it a bit.
This is very compact and easy to pack. There is no bottle top adapter, but only the output tube. It does clean up the water really well and it tastes fresh and clean after filtering.

Water passes first through a Preliminary Filter that removes larger particles, then through the Patented Dual Membrane Ceramic Filter that captures contaminants down to 0.1 microns. The final Nano Molecular Cluster Post-Filter operates at a 0.001 micron level, removing microscopic contaminants, chemicals, and soluble heavy metals.
With its powerful pumping mechanism, this system creates an impressive 1.6 liters of pure, filtered water per minute – enough to fill a standard water bottle in under 30 seconds. While many portable filters sacrifice speed for thoroughness, Trailgo Tactical XR achieves both, keeping its 3x filtration effectiveness even at this wildly fast pace.
It brings serious durability to the backcountry without unnecessary bulk. The body is made from food-grade ABS plastic that can handle even the nastiest weather and toughest terrains. And the heart of the purifier is a stainless steel piston you can count on, even after dragging it through mud, sand, and who knows what else.
It weighs just 1.5 pounds, and that's with both external filters installed. You can easily slip it into a side pocket of your pack or tuck it into your emergency kit without sacrificing space for other must-haves. It really comes in handy when you're covering big-time miles and need to travel light but can't compromise on water safety.
