This has been a handy little light! It's got a standard attachment mount on the bottom for tripods and desk arms so I've been able to mount it on an arm for product photos. I'm traveling soon and working remote so I'll likely use it with a mini tripod for a webcam light. The leds themselves are nicely diffused and are easy to control the brightness and temperature via the buttons on the back. The 1200mah has been long lasting so far and, while I haven't been able to gauge exactly how long it last for, it's not left me in the lurch without charge yet.Bonus: there's three cold shoe mounts on it so you've got plenty of opportunity to augment this however you might need to for your needs. Highly recommended if you need a good travel light!
This white spectrum light is very bright. It'd work perfectly mounted to a camera, tripod, or phone cage.It having multiple cold shoes that you can hook other equipment into is very valuable for "shot on xphone" style video production. It's as good as any other similar light I've tried in this size and range. Light weight and high quality. This is what first gave me faith in the Magic John brand.

REVIEW UPDATED: My delight with this product inspired me to do a deep dive on "selfie lights," and I ordered another one on Amazon, which offered a higher battery capacity and brightness. I am still happy with this one (Magic John), but so far I love this latest one because it is profoundly brighter - bright enough to use outdoors as a fill light, and is less bulky in my pocket. I am keeping the Magic John at five stars because it still seems to be a solid value going on the current prices of selfie lights.----I've been trying this out for a couple of days with my smartphone and my Canon 5D Mark IV. I've been getting wonderful results with pictures of small items using this as a handheld or attached enhancement light. The color temperature control is easy -- simply eyeball and click two buttons to harmonize color temperature with ambient light color temperature. The CRI (color rendering index) of 95 works fine, especially at this price. The battery life has been a pleasant surprise, taking into account the brightness running at 100% power. For comparison purposes, check the "falcon and camera" picture in the series of three, which was taken with the smartphone's built-in flash. It shows the typically burned-out "flash look" and obvious color temperature mismatch. The colors are not true because the camera is trying to make an overall compromise. The other two are "without" and "with." The "with" picture was taken at the lowest power (25%) setting. Of course, the "without" picture is weakened by empty blacks and poor shadow detail in the falcon. But what is SO NICE about this lighting device (compared to the built-in light on my phone) is that I was able to set the color temperature to harmonize with the warm (2600K or so) under-cabinet lighting. Bottom line: If you want to improve the quality of your close-up images, I can recommend this one. It is intuitive, easy to use, and a good value at current prices.
I have older lights that look just like this, but they are not rechargeable, so this is a major upgrade and will save a ton on batteries! It's versatile in the sense that it can be mounted in a variety of places, especially if you have any general cold shoe rig or mount. The brightness and color settings are easy to work with and it gets bright enough for basic use, making it easily functional for most users You can't beat the portability with how inexpensive this light is!
This portable phone light is great to have on hand if you like to film videos or take selfies and photos on your phone. It actually even has a spot that you can mount it onto a digital camera as well, so it'll work on a camera if that's what you use. This is a square shape light thats about the exact width of your average newer phone. Good size. There are buttons on the back to adjust the light brightness and adjust the temperature. You can make it cooler or warmer. The battery life is good. I can use this for a long period of time without it dying on me.For its size, it's pretty bright. Bright enough.Obviously much bigger lights will be brighter since there are more LED beads in them. This is a good portable light that you can attach right onto your phone, device or camera.
Hello all,Even though this Magic John selfie light isn’t meant for reading, I’ve used it at night for that and it works really well. My wife also uses it for putting on makeup, and it’s been great for her too. I’ve tried it for a couple of videos, and it lights up nicely, giving a clear and even glow of my face. One of my favorite things about it is how portable it is, we took it with us on our trip to Japan and Korea, and it was easy to pack and carry around. The adjustable light modes and temperature range give it flexibility for different uses, such as putting makeup, reading, creating videos; and the rechargeable battery lasts a good amount of time.Overall, it’s a small but powerful light that works well for more than just selfies. Definitely a handy gadget to have. Totally recommended.
