My kid can build directly on it in the car seat, and when we're done, everything just goes back in the tin. No hunting under seats for lost pieces.The blocks themselves are smaller than the standard magnetic tiles you might be used to. They're about 0.8 inches, which is compact enough for little hands but definitely keep them away from kids who still put things in their mouth. The small size is actually perfect for travel though. The whole set fits easily in a backpack or diaper bag without taking up much space.Magnets are strong enough to hold structures together but not so crazy strong that my daughter struggles to pull them apart. She can build and rebuild without getting frustrated, which is huge for independent play during long car rides or waiting at restaurants.The designs are cute. Ours has a video game theme that my kid loves, and each block has different colors and patterns. There's a little bell inside each piece that makes a soft sound when you shake them, which adds a sensory element kids seem to enjoy.Here's the reality though... 40 pieces sounds like a lot, but once your kid gets into building, you're going to want more blocks. This is a great starter set or travel set, but if they really take to it, you'll end up buying additional sets to expand what they can create. The good news is these are compatible with standard magnetic blocks, so you can mix and match.I'm a bit cautious about using these in the car honestly. Every time a door opens, there's potential for pieces to fall out and get lost. I've been keeping the tin closed when we're getting in and out, and so far we haven't lost anything. Just something to be mindful of.At $20, this is priced well for what you get. It's not the cheapest magnetic block option out there, but the tin adds real value as both storage and a play surface. Makes it genuinely portable in a way loose blocks aren't.

These magnetic blocks are such a fun find! They look a lot like Minecraft pieces, which my 5-year-old absolutely loves. Since he’s already a big fan of Magna-Tiles, these were a huge hit right away.I also love that they come in a cute, compact box — makes it super easy to take them on the go, whether in the car or to keep him entertained while we’re out. The size is convenient, but worth noting that the pieces are on the smaller side and could be a choking hazard for younger kids, so definitely keep them out of reach of toddlers.Overall, creative, portable, and kid-approved — these are a win in our house!
