I purchased this kit as a way to have to rods in my car at all times so that my kids would be able to fish when opportunity strikes. I've even found myself grabbing for these when I have some time to kill. The kit is very portable and comes with it's own case to keep things organized. Everything is easy to assemble and the reels feel surprisingly nice given the price of the kit. Overally a really nice kit to keep in the car, or for your kids to use to keep them from using your more expensive equipment.

Some beginning anglers and some “angler’s of opportunity” love these collapsable rods so much, they wind up keeping them instead of going on to a fixed solid pole with two of three sections that when put together, form a full rod. I’m certain you know what a beginner is in the worlds of fishing. If you’re an angler now, you most certainly had to start as a beginner and learn the sport from someone you care about and who cares about you!!! An “Angler of Opportunity” is a fisher who really doesn’t get large blocks of time to enjoy their sport of choice, so they carry a rod system just like these and keep them in the trunk of their car. When they get a bit of time, and spot a location to fish, they run to the banks of whatever body of water they found, and cast a line to pass some time, or to decompress from a day of not fishing. They are opportunists….therefore they are Anglers of Opportunity!!! This outstanding kit is absolutely perfect for the beginning angler or the opportunists!!! For the beginner, this set of poles, reels, lures, and tools are just waiting to have someone use them and have a great time doing so!!! Since we already know what an “Angler of Opportunity” is…..I’m going to stay focused on the beginner angler. To introduce a beginner, it makes no sense to me to outfit them with a $200 rod and a $175 reel. They don’t need a huge tackle box filled with every lure and associated piece of tackle invented over the last 300 years. And you certainly don’t need a $30 spool of braided line to spool onto their reel. You need basic, but very good equipment to make the introduction to angling safe, interesting, and above all else, fun!!!! This comprehensive set of rods, reels, lures, line, and tools is the perfect way to start someone on the pleasures of fishing. Please note: Not every beginner, young or older, will like, yet alone love fishing!! It’s hard to believe, but it is a fact. Again, this kit is perfect to see if there is interest, and if that interest sparks a love for the sport. I have a friend who has always thought about getting into fishing. But at 43 years of age…..he felt that if he hadn’t started by now, he was never going to start. I presented this kit to him, and asked if he would like to give it a try, with me, into the world of an angler. Surprisingly, he finally said “Yes”!!! So we took this kit to the water and I started to teach. We were both using the same rods, reels, lines…everything included in this very comprehensive kit. This fishing pole and reel combo has every tool we needed. The kit includes lures, hooks and a handy and convenient storage bag. Ready for lakes, rivers, ponds, or streams! Featuring two white telescopic fishing rods made with lightweight, durable materials for easy handling and learning how to cast is great!!! Both of the rods collapse down to a compact size, fitting easily back into its carry bag. Each rod is matched to a 3000 reel that is pre-spooled with high-quality fishing line, so I could skip setup time….for now!!! Both of the rods have rust-proof stainless steel guide rings to help prevent line wear, while the inexpensive yet completely functioning spinning reels have durable aluminum spools and bearings for reliable performance. The easiest part was done. My new “student” was introduced to the components parts of what is necessary to fish. There is a mountain of things to learn going forward with becoming an angler, but we were able to start the super-basic drills of casting and retrieving. Some people get it after a 1000 times of trying, and some pick it up rather quickly. Fortunately for my buddy, he was the later!! All we did for a couple of hours was cast and retrieved. Cast and retrieved. The rods functioned just as they should. They made casting easy, and the lightweight and fast action of the rods allowed even a beginner to cast out some long flings!!! The reel was also a great tool for teaching. He had to learn the basics of a spinning reel and the do’s and do not’s when it came to a spinning reel. He was loving how easily it came to him, and he expressed how dumb he felt not trying this sport in the past. I changed the narrative in his head to “The past is already gone….and we are in the present. Be grateful for this opportunity to learn something new. Live in the present to be able to enjoy every moment. Like in the present so that looking back, you will have stored great memories as you move forward!!” He liked my point of view. He was genuinely happy and the smile on his face was a true give away!!! When we got back to my SUV, I opened one of my smaller tackle boxes, and showed him the inside contents. His eyes opened as wide as saucers. “What is all that???” I replied that he had just begun a wonderful sport full of joy, happiness, and the art of enjoying nature while doing something he loved to do. I explained that the box was full of different “tackle”, and that while many things looked different, many were just the same thing in a different shape, color, or configuration. He was hooked!!! ( No pun intended.) I explained that as we went along, there were basics he must learn and memorize. Once some of the basic were learned he could take anything in the box and make it work. But one thing at a time!!! I rate this twin set of collapsible rods, open reels, and the rest of the contents of the kit a solid 10 out of 10 because the contents were perfect to introduce fishing to a person who never fished, the equipment was good which made the teaching easier, the rods and reels worked perfectly and gave a beginner the very first handling skills of an angler, the rods were lightweight and fast which made leaning to cast a fun and instantly rewarding exercise, and the entire beginners kit all folded or collapsed down and fit back inside its carry case for the next lesson!!! Wait ‘til he has to learn some knots!!! For the price, I expected something much more flimsy. This combo is sturdy, reliable, and a pleasure to use. It far exceeded what I thought I was getting.
