Over the years I've had many, many different fish-hook sharpeners, and as you can imagine some are great... some not. This is one of the great ones. There are several reasons for that.First, you get two of these, and with the red grip area, and bright yellow lanyard they are just tough to lose. I've had others, particularly those made of stone that simply disappear into the environment when I place them down. That's how they get lost.Next, they do a great job, overall. They have a coating of diamond dust, meaning these are durable. It's just coarse enough, and works well on most size hooks. I've even dressed up a fishing knife with it, and a pair of Swedish scissors, at home. The last thing has to do with size. These fit right into my wallet, or pocket, even in a fishing vest. In fact, you can just hang these off your fishing vest. Nice. The fact that they are steel, not stone or ceramic means that they will survive in your wallet, in spite of being sat upon, repeatedly.I think this is a great product, and the best sharpener, overall. If I was putting together a survival kit, or bugout bag this is definitely going in there.Great product, super value.
These are nice, effective hook sharpeners. I tried them out on a few different hook sizes, some of which had some salt corrosion, and they cleaned up well with sharp tips. These are great to have in multiple tackleboxes, cars, kayaks, wherever - good, cheap insurance to help land more fish.
