Fishing Weights Lead Surfing
These are great sinkers for surf fishing on sandy bottoms. They hold the bottom well when the surf is high and the tide is running. The stainless steel legs dig into the sandy bottom immobilizing the sinker. They can easily be flipped and dislodged from the bottom with a good jerk. They are more effective in holding the bottom than a comparable weight pyramid sinker.Damon M. Tatem
These are a great way to hold the bottom with out having to throw a half a pound out there. The wires do a fantastic job of griping the sand and holding the rig in place until you pull it free or a fish does. I personally believe you can have enough of these in multiple weights.
I fish a fast deep river. That means I have to use heavy weight to keep my bait at the bottom in one place. With the Sputnik Sinker, I can now use a lighter weight and the funny looking flip up wires to grab the bottom like an anchor, keeping my bait exactly where I need it.This design is great, they look absolutely silly, but serve a greater purpose. It helps keep less stress on my rod when casting and holds firm once it reaches the bottom. That means more time on target and less time fighting currents. They are definitely worth the price... even though they aren't what I call cheap. The adjustable wires flip up and lock into grooves in the lead sinker holding extremely well to anchor the weight. Casting is simple due to the aerodynamic design and it sinks quickly. The function is perfect. The quality is definitely great. Now I just hope the fish like what they are hanging on to as much as I do.Happy fishing
Nice weights. I got the assortment so they will work really well when fishing off the pier. I will definitely take them to Florida with me, and hit the pier this christmas. Hopefully catch a big red fish.
I’ve heard about these Sputnik sinkers and wanted to give them a try. There are 2 sets of “feet” that help grab into sand or mud. Keeping the sinker from rolling with current or waves. When setting the hook they flip back so you can reel in without the feet grabbing stuff. Won’t get to try them until next summer unfortunately but just playing around with them they seem to be good quality and design. Comes with 2 3oz, 2 4oz, and 1 5oz sinker.
This is my first set of sputnik sinkers and I am a new fan. I couldn't believe how well they locked down in the sand. I used the 3 Oz sinkers on a day where the current was ripping and the stayed in place until I reeled them in. I will definitely order more.
The Good:+ Legs are thick+ Able to bend legs to adjust the amount of drag+ Comes with rubber caps for easy storageThe Bad:- NoneNote(s):Got these to add to my crab snares. Many of the beaches on the west coast have fast moving waters with strong pulls. This sputnik weight allows me to keep the weight of the snare reasonable but the legs help keep the snare in place. One of the main reasons people come up empty handed when crab snaring is because the waves/swells is causing the snare to roll around. This type of weight helps keep the snare anchored.
Awesome design very cool
