    I got these hooks for my high low rigs. They work great in the north east porgies and sea bass. They have bait holder barb and they are red. Why are they red? I don’t know but someone in a tackle shop said fish can’t see red…Who knows but all around a well made hook.

    I ordered the 100pc size 6# mostly for bluegill fishing and I had great results. These bait holder hooks are perfect for fishing with worms since I do feel they make a big difference keeping the bait hooked. I’ve taken these out for bluegill fishing a couple times and so far I’ve had great hookup rates. With the longer shanks, it also make it easier to unhook the fish. I’m not sure if the color red makes a difference but it definitely does catch fish. For the price and how well these work, this is an amazing value.

    100 pics baitholder hooks. These are some quality hooks. They are durable and extra sharp. The barbs are great at securing the bait to the hook longer. You definitely can't go wrong with getting these hooks, a great product at a great bargain.

    I got the #6 hooks. the red finish has always been a winner with me. The barbs on the shank are there but are very slight on the size I got. I think on the bigger hooks they will be more obvious.

    I’ve been trying out these bait holder hooks in different freshwater setups, mainly with night crawlers. The red finish is a nice touch since many anglers believe it mimics the look of blood or injured bait, which can make presentations more attractive to fish. The double barbs along the shank really do their job, worms stay put and don’t slide down nearly as much as they can on plain hooks.The hooks come in a wide range of sizes, from smaller panfish options to larger ones that work for bass or catfish. I like the offset design and the slightly angled eye, which makes it easier to tie snell knots or other rigging styles. So far, they’ve handled normal freshwater conditions without bending or dulling quickly.One drawback is the packaging.     These hooks are good quality and functional as bait holders. They're not offset and work well with braided and fluorocarbon lines. They're not super stiff and have some flex so they shouldn't snap as they're not brittle. The hooks are sharp and you could sharpen as needed. They work well holding shrimp, minnows, shad, and worms.

    I'm ALWAYS in need of more hooks. I've been looking to get some long shank for some specific bait presentations. I settled on these. Very pleased with their sharpness. There was a day when you needed to get really expensive hooks to get quality. Not anymore! These are as sharp as my expensive hooks! I don't see any manufacturing issues. Everything looks great. I've used them a few times and they have worked flawlessly! There is some variability between all manufacturers in size, so please make sure you match the measurements. Otherwise strongly recommended!

    I never heard of FishTrip before….but the name had two things going for it: FISH ( I do love to angle!!); TRIP ( I’m willing to travel for great fishing!!) Being an avid angler for many years, there are two things on my mind when I’m ready to have a fishing adventure. The first is “Do I have the correct tackle….and enough of it?” The second thing is “Should I be looking to buy more of what I’m going to use today because tackle is consumable?? The trip I was going on was to a super-secret spot a friend of mine ( fishing buddy for 20 years!!) knows of that has magical powers to produce BIG CATFISH!!!!! I love catfish!!! Of course I was traveling with my tackle box ( maximum allowed weight 18 pounds……my box is closer to 25 give or take!!!) WHATEVER!!!! I could angle with all kinds of set ups, but I remembered not to long ago that I was having a blast using Wacky Worm rigs!!! They were easy to make, and I caught a lot of fish!! So, I decided that I would use the Wacky rigs to lure my target fish. We arrived at an amazingly beautiful little lake north of Reading, PA and I was already sensing it was going ton be a good day fishing!!!! I had been using worm hooks ( wide gap hooks) for my last catfish run….but I thought I was running low on those hooks. I ordered these FishTrip Baitholder Fishing Hooks with their double barbed long shanks and offset angle. These would be a hook I definitely could make my Wacky rigs with and at the same time give these newly ordered hooks a “field test” under actual naturally occurring conditions!! I took a couple of these 2/0 hooks and started doing my secret preparations on my catfish bait. The hooks were a really nice quality production piece. They were made from high-carbon steel, and the manufacturer touted these hooks “delivered exceptional strength”. So far….so good!!! Looking the hooks over a little more closely, I could see the razor sharp machined and honed points were incredible, and the dual barbs on the shaft would help insure great hook penetration once I got a good hook-up. I was wondering about the fluorescent red coating on the long shanks hooks which I never saws before. I looked up the coating on Google which explained that some manufacturers put a fluorescent coating on their hooks in the belief that the color attracts the attention of fish better and doing so would naturally increase my fishing success. Sounded a little “off “ to me, but I give every piece of equipment and tackle an unbiased trial to see just how good ( or not so good) something might be. Double barbed hooks, from my experience, are used often when employing live bait and can be used to make a “surf perch” rigs. These hooks had the hook handle down-eyed, which by design, (theory) makes tying knots and rigs easier. Still wondering what a “surf perch” rig is?? Well, a surf perch rig is a setup used to catch surf perch in the ocean’s surf zone, usually with common rigs including the High-Low Rig and the Carolina Rig. Both rigs feature a weight to cast the line into the surf and one or more hooks usually baited with sand crabs, or artificial worms (lures) to attract surf perch….which if you were wondering, are bottom-dwelling fish. But that’s a story for another time! So, my rig was ready and I cast my line into a dark hollow area that looked like a good place to be if I were a catfish. It was still earl morning and the sun was low and the water temperature was a little low. Guessing that perhaps the fish would be in a shallower depth to warm up, I reeled my line into and attached a bobber that would put my rig at a depth of approximately 2 feet. I saw some water ripples so I knew there was something stirring about. I then though that maybe, just maybe the cats were just below the surface trying to warm up a little quicker. I cast another rod with one of my new frog surface floaters, which would perhaps entice a fish to grab a larger meal than a skinny worm. I was 100% wrong!!!! My bobber dropped like a sinker and surfaced again, moving away from me towards the bank of the lake. I didn’t want my line or rig to get hung up, so I started retrieving my line as fast as possible. They way whatever took my lure was a fish that had some weight to it!!! I had my FishTrip hook set well, so I wasn’t going to loose my catch. I just didn’t want to get fouled. I reeled and reeled until I saw what only a mother catfish and I could love…..a catfish with wiskers that were looking like a foo-man-cho mustache, and a swirl of water around my cat that was being pushed by its powerful and large tail!!! Long story short….first catch of the day turned out ton be a 10.4 pound monster catfish on my trusty FishTrip hook!!! I would have to rate the sharp, strong, and mega-barbed FishTrip 2/0 long shank offset hook a 10 out of 10 because the hook did penetrate that catfish like a hot knife through butter, the sharp point lead the hook straight in for a fast hook-up and then secured my catch all the way back to me on shore!!! I don’t know how the red color of the hook worked. I asked the fish, but he wasn’t talking. I recommend you try here extremely well-crafted hooks for your next outing. Perhaps they’ll work for you as well as they did for me!!!! Oh, by the way…these FishTrip hooks are available in sizes #8, #6, #4, #2, #1, 1/0, 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, 5/0 and last but not least 6/0!!!
