I bought the size 16/18 for my 13 year old son to be used as his Scout pants. The good: the material and quality seems nice. The pants seem to be well made and feel like they would get softer and more comfortable after use and washing. The bad: they just didn't fit - or in a better sense, they would fit him for about a month, then be too short. Okay, so my 13 year old is about 5' 5", but I though the 16/18 would be plenty long enough. They are right at the point in length where I would start shopping around for new pants for him. They would work for right now, but not for long; sending them back. So, I like the pants, but just use this for reference - 5' 5" and about 95 lbs., the 16/18 will be too short.
Very lightweight and breathable material, true to size. Love that it comes with the belt. Got for my tall and skinny guy and with the belt they are perfect for our outdoor activities in FL.
Love them
The size we bought runs on the longer size for age 11, which is ok because my son is on the shorter size for his age and can grow into them. We bought these for BSA use. The material is thinner, which works well for warmer events in scouts. The belt is a one size fits all, which is ok (son is on the skinnier side as well), but you'll end up with a lot of length leftover as the size of the belt is far to long for the size of the waist on the pants. I would recommend going a size down if you notice your child to be on the shorter size of his age group though. The zip off legs to convert to shorts is a wonderful feature.
Pay 5 dollars more and get a decent pair of these. The material is cheap, the waist can't be adjusted (unlike other brands), the belt is very very long and uncomfortable for a child and doesn't do the job. Extremely baggy on the upper part.
Kiddo used these pants on a hiking trip to the mountains where the nights were going to be cool but the days warm. Easily able to unzip/remove and re-attach later.I noticed it was hard to get permethrin to soak in to the fabric but that demonstrated a water resistance in the material. They are thin so good for late spring/summer/early fall. Nights were in the 50’s and 60’s and kiddo said he was comfy. They run true to size at the waist but slightly long (no complaints). These will get tons of use and seem like they’ll hold up.
Too small
As a short girl I often peruse boys clothes especially to look for work pants I can wear in the field. I'm 4'10" and about 100 pounds and the 12y/o size fits great, the belt also working very well for me. They are nice and lightweight, great for if you are needing to wear pants in the summer- plus, they're super cute in a "granola girl" sort of way!
My son loves these. They’re lightweight and kind of like a windbreaker material. He loves how many pockets they have! (Hes into having a million pockets these days) Theyre his favorite!True to size and comfy.
