I replace many of the factory hooks on my hard lures because they just can't hold up to the strong fish I target. This was a good price for 25 hooks so I thought I would try them. Description does say they are carbon steel and very strong but doesn't specify 2x or 3x strength. They look pretty good and are very sharp but I can feel some give when squeezing two of the 3 trebles together that doesn't happen with a 3x hook. I will try them but fear after a few fish they will start bending outward. They are probably fine for bass, trout, and other less powerful fish than striper and hybrid bass.
Need a replacement treble hook for your lure ? Need treble hooks just because ? You've found a solid value for the money in these hooks. If you fish long enough you'll hook a log , stump , tree or someone.. maybe even yourself. This may bend or break your treble hook. Replacement is fast easy and affordable with one of these high quality , sharp well made and red ( maybe anodized ) treble hooks. Buy them for your tackle box. Give them as a gift. A necessity in a good fishing terminal tackle kit
Products as described. Very sharp.
These hooks are good for replacing broken or missing hooks on lures. They would also be good for fishing with soft baits. They are very sharp!
These hooks look pretty cool painted red. The hooks are not very strong. I put one in a pair of pliers and it didn't take much pressure to bend the hook. The hooks are not very sharp either. I was able to stick my fingers into the collected pile of hooks without any of them sticking to my fingers. Normally with other hooks, I almost always get poked by one of the hooks. I didn't have any issues with these. These hooks look nice, but you're going to need to sharpen these before using them.
The Good:+ Feels sturdy+ Great value (price to quantity)+ Red coating is very bright+ Comes in a quality caseThe Bad:- Hooks need to be sharperNote(s):The price to quantity is very appealing, especially because it comes with a fairly nice carrying case as well. But as anglers we know the point is…well, the point of the hook. In order to increase your chances of hooking up, a key factor is very sharp points on the hook.Unfortunately the sharpness of these hooks can be improved. The sharpness of these hooks are somewhere in the midpoint between sharp and dull. The hardness/sturdiness of these hooks are good, I tried to bend one out and it took quite a bit of strength to do so. The red coating seems to stay on well too. With all that said, I sharpened two and replaced the rusted hooks on one of my topwater lures. Was able to land a fish on it.
While this FishTrip selection of red treble hooks (size #6) are attractively priced, they were only moderately sharp when they arrived. One of the first things I do when I l acquire a new crankbait or hard jerkbait is to replace the OEM treble hooks with red ones. Among other things, there are certain brands of lures which come with what are essentially dull hooks. These hooks are neither dull nor very sharp. The points will almost bite my thumbnail, but not quite. A few strokes with a good hook hone will get them to the point where they should be. The selection does come in a nice storage box. At the current price, they are a bargain, but only if you're willing to take the time to sharpen them.
I picked up the size 10 hooks. They arrive shrink wrapped in a plastic clam shell.A little challenging to unwrap and then open. Once opened it seemed fine. The hooks could be sharper.I like this size for my small spinner bait. Not sure if red will make a difference. I've fished silver and black, so anything different nis worth a try.The eyes are rather large for a small hook. So easy to deal with a split ring.Barbs are a reasonable size and angled nicely. Should be able to retrieve the hook easily
