My little god send of a nail filer. Works like charm. I only use the pink sander and I’ve never hurt my baby. I would give this out as baby shower gifts even if they didn’t ask for it.
I've finally found a solution to my baby's dagger-like knife nails. This thing buffs them to a dull finish in no time at all. It's like a low powered dremel with different grit sanding discs. The motor spins in either direction and in two speeds in each direction so you can hold it in the same way for whatever angle you have the baby finger at since you want the disc to rotate away from finger to not catch on the nail edge. This thing is a god send. I used to suffer though the crazy baby scratches. Not anymore! my baby's nails are as dull as mine now. Also this is great for my adult nails as well. I no longer have to file for a long time. It cuts my filing time down on my own nails by a factor of like 3. I file my nails I don't cut them since cutting is pretty clumsy for me and makes my nails hurt if I mess it up. I use two Panasonic AA envelop rechargeable batteries and it works great. I love the light too it has for when I use it in the dark. Thanks for carrying this product. It's a shame you can't find this in big box stores. It would be a great seller especially in those baby stores. Or just market it as a nail care tool for adult nails!
Great product. If your looking to do your babies or child's nails this is the best one to use. Easy to use and great results. I would recommend doing your child's nails as they sleep. Easy to work around a sleeping baby vs a moving baby
So great for cutting nails. Doesn’t cut or hurt his skin. Super easy to use and like that there are multiple tips to use for when he grows.
Here's my review after 2 years of use. It works great and not bothersome for the little one. After about a year the nail file inserts needed to be replaced so i got like an 8 pack of aftermarket replacements. A year later it stopped spinning and just the light was on. Being past warranty I ordered the same thing (because of the inserts). Gonna make sure this time to sign up for warranty extension. They forgot to add stickers to my second one Hence, with all that said, 4/5.
If you have a little one at home or on the way, this is a must have in my opinion. This is the second one we bought, the first we used with our first baby but lost it in our most recent move so we bought a second for our newest baby. This thing takes away the nerves of cutting babies nails with a traditional clipper. It's so gentle. We typically use just the pink file while they are babies and move up to a tip when at the toddler stage and still so wiggly. The light that's built in helps so much too in getting an accurate and clear look of thos rtiny little nails. Overall, I 100% would recommend for anyone with littles.
*update 10/1/16 - upped from 3 stars to 5 stars. a customer service rep from little martin's reached out to me and provided some recommendations on how to better file my daughters nails. i did try as recommended and it did help a lot. i think there is a learning curve to getting it right, but it was my fault for not reading the instruction manual as detailed as i should have. i do my own nails a lot so i figured that i knew how to file nails but specifically for this product you should file at a 60 degree angle. the edges are still a bit tough but i think i'll get it down with time. i wanted to give 5 stars especially for the great customer service that i received from the company. not many companies would reach out and take the time to help you to use their product better and i really appreciated that. thank you!was hoping this would be the one item that would get my newborn daughters nails in check.. but no miracle product here for me. i have the piyo piyo scissors and the magnifying glass clippers as well as a traditional nail file - all of which didn't work for my baby. i used to be able to use the scissors while she slept and was a new born, but now that she's 3mo her sleep is much lighter and its hard for me to cut her nails, especially in a dark nursery. i needed something that i could use on her when she's awake. this file does work, but its really hard to get the edges of her nails which ends up being the part that scratches her face the most when she rubs her eyes when shes tired, etc... This is because the files are all round, and of course this is to protect the baby's surrounding skin and such so I definitely understand that. It does do well in general to round the nail though, even if she is moving.. I just have to hold her arm or foot down harder. But at the price point of this product I expected a bit more. I still have not found a great solution for her nails, so i'll just have to keep trying.
This tool has been essential for my baby, who is way too squirmy to use anything else for his nails! Since the directions aren't super clear: here is what works best: line up the tool with the fingernail. Use the bottom edge of the disc against the nail. You want to file from the outer edge inward, so that you don't create a hangnail. Slide the control forward/up to file the left edge of the mail, and downward to file the right edge. Either one will work for smoothing the center. I started with the slower settings but now that he's bigger and I'm more confident, I go right to the faster settings so we can get done sooner. File as short as possible- the machine will stop if you try to go too far because of the friction with their fingertip, which doesn't hurt at all!
