The FX30 captures beautiful cinematic imagery with 6K oversampling, high performance and highly efficient workflow. Enjoy hassle-free shooting with S-Cinetone™ and S-Log3 for high level grading. Its compact size lets you take it anywhere, and sophisticated AF and stabilization makes advanced filmmaking more accessible than ever for up-and-coming creators.
After months of research and real-world testing, I finally invested in the Sony FX30, and let me tell you — this camera has completely transformed the way I shoot. Whether you're a content creator, indie filmmaker, or someone upgrading from hybrid mirrorless systems, the FX30 is the sweet spot between affordability and true cinematic performance. Why I Chose the FX30 Over the FX3Let’s address the elephant in the room: the FX3 is full-frame, the FX30 is Super 35 (APS-C). But here’s the thing — the FX30 shares almost everything else that makes the FX3 so loved, at nearly half the price. For my work in branded content, documentaries, and YouTube production, the crop sensor is not a limitation — in fact, it gives me reach and a cinematic depth I actually prefer in certain scenarios.Unless you're dead set on shallow depth of field from a full-frame sensor, the FX30 delivers 90% of what the FX3 offers, with room in your budget for extra glass, lights, or audio gear. Key Features That Make the FX30 a No-Brainer:Cinema Line DNA:This is not just another “video-capable mirrorless.” The FX30 belongs to Sony’s Cinema Line, meaning you get Log shooting (Cine EI, S-Log3), timecode sync, LUT support, and a professional menu system — all designed with filmmakers in mind.Super 35 / APS-C Sensor:Don’t sleep on this sensor. It delivers 6K oversampled 4K footage, rich color depth, and low noise in most lighting conditions. I’ve shot in dim rooms and outdoors at golden hour — the results are gorgeous every time.Dual Native ISO:This feature is a lifesaver. The FX30 handles low light much better than any APS-C camera I’ve used before. Switching between ISO bases gives me clean footage even at higher ISOs.Professional Connectors & Controls:You get full-size HDMI, dual CFexpress Type A/SD slots, multiple mounting points, and an optional XLR handle unit — features you'd normally find only in much pricier cameras. It’s a rig-ready machine straight out of the box.Autofocus That Just Works:Sony’s legendary Eye-AF and subject tracking are fully baked in. Whether I’m shooting solo or with talent on the move, I trust the autofocus to keep up flawlessly.Active Cooling = No Overheating:I’ve recorded hour-long 4K shoots without a single hiccup. The built-in fan and venting are low-profile but highly effective.Lightweight, Compact, Built for Creators:It’s smaller than the FX3 but has the same rugged feel. For handheld, gimbal, or travel setups, it’s ideal. The customizable buttons and intuitive interface make it fast to operate even on run-and-gun shoots.Who It’s For (and Why You’ll Love It):If you're upgrading from the Sony a6400, a6600, or even a non-Sony DSLR/mirrorless system, this is the professional-level leap without diving into full-frame pricing. It’s perfect for:Solo content creatorsIndependent filmmakersMusic video directorsWedding & event videographersYouTubers leveling up their production gameFinal Verdict:The Sony FX30 is a creative powerhouse that punches way above its price point. It bridges the gap between mirrorless convenience and cinema-level control. With pro-grade features, unbeatable autofocus, and a form factor that fits any workflow, this camera is easily the best investment I’ve made in my creative career. If you’re serious about storytelling, visuals, and growing your brand or business through video — get the FX30. You won’t regret it.
It’s very good value for money. I came from A5100, moved to A6400, bought the A6700 last year, and now the FX30.I like the fact that it has a full HDMI Which I use for my livestream on YouTube and OBS.I also like the fan which reduces heat.It took a few YouTube videos, but I was able to set it up easily to get the kind of look I want.I brought my lenses from the other cameras and they started working immediately. Strangely though, the fps numbers are 23.99, etc. instead of 24.Overall, I love it so much. The build quality is good and the weight is easy to carry around. I now use the FX30 as the A camera and the A6700 as the B.Oh, one more thing, I was able to add the SONY mount and have added functionality like using a dynamic and condenser mic without buying a sound card.I create real estate talking head videos and interviews on YouTube. Channel is Africa Building Hub.I also create short form content for Instagram and TikTok with this.I don’t think I will buy a new camera anytime soon. Maybe, until FX3
Great Vid Quality
I can be upset about it that hasn’t been said. Super light. 6K down sample to a 4K. Meaning the quality it’s just amazing. Colors are on par with a $10k camera. If you’re shooting raw. Super small, super portable. Just do it
Great product
Para quem veio de uma 7rii a fx30 para filmagem é de deixar qualquer movie Maker com o coração quente!Essa camera entrega tudo o que promete me fazendo pensar que não precisarei trocar ela pelos próximos 10 anos. !!
Works great, had mine for over a year and still use it every chance I get as my main camera.
Buena , bonita y barata.Si tu idea es crear contenido con mejor apariencia, comienza con esya joya
Very nice camera does the job well.
Worked great, sold for a premium to upgrade to the FX3.
Absolutely loving the Sony FX30 so far. The image quality is incredible for the price, and the color science is beautiful straight out of camera. It feels like a mini cinema camera — compact, lightweight, but packed with pro features like S-Cinetone, dual base ISO, and great autofocus. Perfect for content creators, videographers, or anyone stepping into cinematic shooting. Battery life is decent, and having dual card slots is a huge plus. No complaints yet — this camera has seriously elevated my video work.
I purchased the FX30 for recording concerts and events, mainly classical music. It has the cinematic features I need most, except for a built-in ND filter. However it is much more portable than my FX5, and works with the excellent APS-C Sony FZ 18-110 f/4 video lens. I was somewhat hesitant about its low light capability compared to an A7Siii, but it proves to be up to the job, even in natural or room light for a salon concert. The rigid frame and built-in hard points for accessories, particularly rails and high-torque focusing motors, is invaluable. It has a full-sized HDMI port, which I can use directly, or convert to SDI or NDI as needed.
Es un aparato buenísimo, da una gama de color excelente y la nitidez de imagen, excelente. La uso para filmar cine y podcast y me encanta el resultado
