Tasted terrible. Not at all worth the $
Every one of these cans fizzed out over the top when opened, just like a soda can shaken too much. The very first one happened right when I brought home, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt that maybe it had moved around too much in transit. Unfortunately, the remaining three did the exact same thing, even after sitting still for several days. Anywhere from a quarter to half of the can was wasted because it fizzed out when opened.
This drink started off as wine, had the alcohol removed, and then had juice and other flavors added. As with other non-alcoholic beverages, I understand the challenge associated with recreating the flavors lost from that process. I consume a lot of NA drinks, including beers and spirits, but this my first taste of an NA wine.To my palate, this drink lacks something. I can't really place it, but while it's in my mouth I don't get the feeling that I'm drinking wine. The finish is a bit different and it is reminiscent of a cheap red wine. It's missing some of the character of the lingering alcohol you'd normally get, but the finish really is a lot closer. This is not to say that I dislike the drink. To the contrary, the dryness and flavor were quite good and it was definitely unique from just sparkling (unfermented) grape juice. I liked it. My wife, who drinks more wine than I do, and almost exclusively reds, thought it tasted more like a flavored lambic (not really kriek, not really framboise, but similar) than a wine.Overall, I think this is a nice option as an NA wine alternative.
I tried 3 different brands. This one is the only one that resembled the taste of red wine . Portions too small though for the price . I would have preferred larger cans.
I’ve tried several non-alcoholic wines and Surely are the only ones that genuinely taste similar to alcohol and not just juice. I think this one is about as close as possible to red wine of all I’ve tasted. It has the mouthfeel/bitterness of dry red wines that you sometimes miss with non-alcoholic wines. Will order again!
This specific flavor from Surely is the only one that has nice fruit, acidity, tannins, and no weird aftertaste. Too bad it's so dang expensive, and I haven't been able to get it on Amazon for months.
Poured the can into my wine glass and had about 1” of foam on top-couldn’t for the whole can into the glass at once until the head died down. Each time the glass is raised, the fizz throws the strongest grape juice smell at your nose, making this seem not at all like a glass of wine. Once the foam dissolved (it never really leaves entirely—see the picture), the juicy smell was less objectionable. The taste is just “ok” it is a “jammy red”, as advertised. Was hoping they would be better. Won’t buy again. Would be better without the fizz.
We are used to cheaper wines so not wine snobs. That being said we wanted to like this since we stopped with the alcoholic wine. We did not like this product. There was an aftertaste that was off, kind of like grape juice. Not recommended.
