The piece is rubber and is one thin piece with the colorful "buttons." It's one piece and it comes with a leash which can be attached to anything that is fabric. Great for a teething baby.

Has held up well (until the pup got one). Good thickness, the buttons have a good feel when pressed, keeping her engaged. Has bumps for texture on her gums. I never used the clips, but they were good quality as well.
