Got this for a trip to Central America so we would have something durable and water resistant. I've had past Olympus tough cameras and was happy with them - this model continues that trend. The camera is highly durable surviving bangs and bumps on rocks, trees, floors, etc. It did well in water (swimming with sharks, boating, on the beach, river rafting, etc) and on land. Battery life was fine (I supplemented it with some additional third party batteries just to ensure I had enough power).Picture quality is good to excellent depending on your expectations and the conditions around you. The video function works really well and we got some great videos with the camera as well. Overall a fun camera with great functionality and great photo and video abilities.
This camera is great. Excellent lens and great durability. Just pay attention to the depth of water proof: 15 meters.
It really is super small and compact. I went with the super bright red option because I will be using this primarily for scuba diving underwater photography and videos. I am a little concerned with the battery life so far as it runs down fast even when not in use or while flipping through the screen options. I dislike the battery compartment and find it super easy to insert the battery the wrong way. A person must buy multiple batteries I believe to stay completely satisfied and the OM battery charger sold separately is a wise investment as well. The battery door and USPC compartments are a little flimsy as well. The image quality is very good, and it is a fairly easy camera to operate. I have only taking it diving 4 times since I purchased it and it seems pretty sturdy and tough. Overall, I would recommend this camera to anyone who doesn't want to invest too much in heavy weight, lenses, and needs a good compact camera for basic photography purposes.
The OM SYSTEM Tough TG-7 Black has finally got it right. I've owned all previous models of the Olympus TG 1-6 Tough cameras and this version finally fix my main concern. Previous models always had a clicking sound when filming n video and muffled out when zooming. The TG7 does not do that and has made me extremely satisfied. Overall this is a great all around camera, as it's tough as the name says. Granted i've never dropped a previous versions nor do I plan on dropping this one but it's made tough. Easy to use and functionality is super simple. Always better to carry a universal camera and not always drain your phone battery. You can charge additional batteries and have expandable memory. It's waterproof and takes great micro-photos... the microscope mode is what I enjoy best about this camera. Great product and great price... best medium range compact camera. 5 Stars from Us...
Really good camera a little better than the TG6 But I prefer the focus on the TG6
Took this on a vacation to Belize. Was glad it was as durable as indicated as it was dropped and bumped around a lot. I used the auto, underwater and macro settings quite a bit. I was very happy with the quality of the images. I only wish it had a written manual. Having to refer to on online PDF that is over 100 pages to figure out the functions was a drag with the limited access to internet on my trip. Batter life is good as long as you don't use the zoom a lot. That seems to eat up the battery. Not the best zoom on a camera I ever had but the macro, panoramic, underwater capabilities made up for that. Can't wait to take it on more trips!
I have had the camera for only a few weeks. It has a lot of features, and I am not familiar with very many of them yet, but I will keep learning in the coming weeks. So far I am very satisfied.
A perfect pocket able all-weather camera. With an extraordinary amount of features and great image quality this Olympus Tough Tg-7 was just what I was looking for to accompany me on our Alaskan Adventure cruise on Uncruise. Great for when we went kayaking and land excursions. Battery life exceeded my expectations.
This is like a classic point-and-shoot digital camera, the kind that were popular in 20 years ago. They made it ruggedly waterproof and updated it a bit with more modern technology, so it can shoot high quality video, it can do burst mode at a very high speed to capture rapid action, but the sensor size is the same size as a cell phone camera, so don't expect it to deliver much better low-light performance than a good phone camera. This does outperform my phone in terms of being waterproof, with double-locking hatches for where you'd connect cables or insert batteries or memory cards. It also has a much bigger, more powerful flash than a phone, and a true optical zoom lens instead of a system of multiple cameras on the back. If you take this on vacation because you want to use it while snorkeling, you might well use it for a variety of other travel photos as well.Compared to using a GoPro or other action camera to take pictures when you're in and around water, then this has some big advantages: Instead of an extremely wide-angle fixed-focus lens as you'd find on an action camera, this has an optical zoom lens that takes pictures in an ordinary range of focal lengths, from somewhat wide angle into a moderate telephoto range. Combined with the option to shoot raw images (so you can adjust them more after shooting, using a program like Lightroom) and optional manual controls, you can get nice still images out of this that look different from what you could get with an action camera. Of course, this is bigger than an action camera, although it's still pocketable and highly portable if you tie it to something. This does have a lot of buttons, options, and controls, so it's a good idea to look through at what the controls do before you're out snorkeling with it, because there are a lot of buttons to futz with in adjusting it.Compared to a camera with a bigger sensor or interchangeable lenses, the only big advantages are size, weight, water resistance, and possibly its speed in burst mode. But the water resistance alone makes this more useful on some vacations than higher priced travel cameras like famous the Sony rx100 line, even if this lacks the larger sensor of an rx100.

Underwater Accessories Take underwater photography to new heights with two optional lenses. They are a small part of a comprehensive system of accessories that raise your level of underwater photography.
Underwater Wide With Underwater Wide Mode, you’ll be able to capture objects — such as manta rays and angelfish plus reefs and wrecks — with clarity and sharpness even in dim light.
Underwater HDR A helpful underwater mode that takes multiple images at varying exposures, then combines them to boost dynamic range to recreate details in bright and dark areas.
