Can have spares to throw in your bag, pocket etc before going out, or to a place you know is higher risk like the airport, train etc.These are standard blue masks, they do not have filters, they have a normal fit around the face and standard elastic ear straps. They are disposable so should not be reused but they are suitable for wearing for a few hours or a day of errands etc.

They are NOT your “standard, disposable blue masks”—they were developed by surgeons in the U.S. and are FDA-cleared ASTM Level 3 masks designed to inactivate 99.9% of tested viruses on the outer surface, which gives me extra peace of mind during travel and in crowded places. Additionally, they feel light on my skin, fit beautifully and have a soft cellulose inner lining that feels incredibly gentle on the skin.If you are an employer who requires your staff wear masks as part of your PPE protocol, can you imagine the possibility of increased compliance because the mask is so much more comfortable and breathable, on top of actually killing certain viruses. I wore one for a full shift and was amazed by how breathable and comfortable it was—no ear irritation or that tight, claustrophobic and sweaty feeling I often get with the cheaper blue masks. These also seem much more durable.At about $0.76 per mask, they cost more than a “standard blue mask” but those will not offer the extra protection and are not near as comfortable. The quality, protection and comfort absolutely justifies it. I am blessed that I got to try these through the Amazon Vine program at no charge to me. But, I have marked these as an “Amazon favorite“, now. With cold and flu season here and more travel ahead, these will become my go-to choice for reliable, comfortable protection.

I have a greater feeling of being protected when wearing this mask. Also, I’m impressed with how comfortable it is, too.

08-03-2026As a nurse working in the hospital, these give me the assurance I need to do my job confidently. I’ll put on during the day and fold it up and keep it in my pocket. However, I use a lot of the disposable ones hospital provides because I’m in and out of patient rooms. I hope one day they can simply provide these masks!!One of my favorite ways to use these masks are when I’m traveling. I feel safe knowing that walking through airports and being on the plane that I have the extra comfort of this mask. So many people, coughing and sneezing, while other people that I travel with usually get sick… I am always healthy because I’m protecting myself by wearing this mask ell crafted mask.

They're comfortable over my ears. The mask surprisingly barely made my glasses fog when I had it on. The metal on the nose formed nicely on mine and prevented most exhales from fogging them up. They fit well; their size feels like that of a standard surgical mask. I appreciate that the box they come in has a built-in dispenser; you just pop off the top where it's perforated for easy access.The bad: They do feel a little bit thicker than a standard surgical mask, though this isn't necessarily bad, depending on your preference. It's worth noting though. I think these are a bit hardier because of this--obviously a positive.I cannot speak to this mask's claims of inactivating viruses, and will be very happy if it is accurate, but it functions quite well regardless. I do notice a faint scent somewhat reminiscent of a cleaning product when wearing the mask. It was not too off-putting though. In the end, I'll be using these single-use masks this coming winter and I'm glad to have them.

FDA-Cleared for Safety and Performance This mask is FDA 510(k)-cleared in a category that requires more review than standard ASTM masks. As part of the clearance process, FDA scientists reviewed independent in vitro data showing how the treated outer layer inactivated specific H1N1 Influenza, OC43 Human Coronavirus, and F-9 Feline Calicivirus (a Norovirus surrogate) strains after 5 minutes of contact under defined test conditions.* These findings were reviewed by FDA as part of the clearance process to support the mask’s performance and safety before clearance was granted.

The patented Oxafence active protection layer in our ProGear surgical masks is grounded in a series of peer-reviewed studies investigating the use of light-activated methylene blue to inactivate viruses on mask surfaces.
This innovation began with a landmark study published in Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology (2021, Lendvay et al.), co-led by Singletto co-founders Dr. Thomas Lendvay and Dr. James Chen. Conducted in collaboration with members of the WHO Coronavirus Task Force and CDC researchers, the study demonstrated that methylene blue combined with light effectively inactivated SARS-CoV-2 on medical masks while preserving their fit and function.
Subsequent research, including studies published in the American Journal of Infection Control (2022, Scholte et al.) by our scientific advisor Dr. Christopher Mores and CDC collaborators, expanded this approach to target additional high-consequence pathogens. These findings further informed the potential applications of light-activated surface protection in personal protective equipment (PPE).
In 2022, Singletto partnered with Prestige Ameritech to integrate its patented Oxafence technology into a surgical mask designed to optimize viral protection. This collaboration led to the FDA's clearance of the ProGear Surgical Mask with Oxafence, Model AV82030 (510(k) Number K231741), on September 5, 2024, under FDA product code OUK. Surgical masks classified under OUK, which include antimicrobial or antiviral agents, undergo a more stringent FDA review process compared to non-antimicrobial masks. This includes additional evaluations to ensure the safety and efficacy of the antimicrobial components, thereby providing enhanced confidence of the mask's protective capabilities.

Indications for Use: The ProGear Surgical Mask with Oxafence is a single-use, disposable device used to cover the nose and mouth of the wearer to protect from transfer of microorganisms, body fluids and particulates. The outer layer of the face mask is coated with methylene blue (0.47 micrograms per square cm area).
* The ProGear Surgical Mask with Oxafence inactivates single isolates of the following test viruses after five minutes of contact with the treated surface of the face mask in laboratory (in vitro) tests under a lighting intensity of 500 ± 25 lux: Influenza A/PR/8/34/H1N1 (TC adapted, ATCC VR-1469), 3 log or 99.9% inactivation; Betacoronavirus 1 OC43 (ATCC VR-1558), 4 log or 99.99% inactivation; Feline Calicivirus F-9 (ATCC VR- 782), 4 log or 99.99% inactivation. Antiviral efficacy on other viruses has not been evaluated. Correlations between in vitro testing results and any clinical event have not been evaluated.
