08-03-2026Every time I drink a virgin margarita, I think about the song by Jimmy Buffett, "Margaritaville". I chilled a 5-ounce glass of seltzer water for 20 hours to remove most of the fizz. I added one packet of Mixtails Sugar Free Margarita Mix, and stirred, and stirred, and stirred, trying to dissolve some small clumps until I gave up and left them in the glass.The first sip yields a lightly fizzy, limey taste (Good) that puckers my mouth (too Much), followed by the taste of Stevia left in my mouth (Bad). This mix is too sweet for my taste buds.The positive side is that there are only 5 calories per sachet, and zero calories in the seltzer water, when prepared without tequila.I compared other powdered margarita mixes and found that Mixtails Sugar Free Margarita Mix is very affordable when compared to some craft mixes.

08-03-2026I don't really drink but enjoy the occasional mocktail. These were individually packed which was nice to keep the powder fresh. I thought the powder dissolved pretty smoothly in soda. It had a fruity citrus scent, but the taste was pretty mild. But I would still drink this because it's sugar free and it still taste like a margarita mix. It's quick and easy to make and while the price point is a little higher than I would expect them to be, it's not bad for the value.

08-03-2026This mix is very tart and doesn't taste super much like a margarita. I think it would be good with fizzy water. It basically makes sprite, though. The powder does not dissolve easily and leaves clumps for a while. Those clumps look quite unsettling. My husband and I had one of these each and haven't touched the rest since. It's not a favorite and not something I'd go out of my way to get again.
