Like a blast from the past, the NBCP Retro TV Game Console drops into our living rooms like an echo of gaming hardware from the 1990s. Imagine one of those tiny players with an itty, bitty screen, but blown up like something out of a time capsule (sans screen that is). Two controllers are included as well as an HDMI cable and a power cord to get you up and running as quickly as possible (do note that the controllers are not rechargeable and require 3 AAA batteries). YMMV when it comes to the gaming content, so keep your expectations in check. The big difference between this console and those tiny handheld units, is that these games are actually licensed, so there's that. Hard-core fans of retro gaming systems might have some fun with this system, the rest might be better served elsewhere.
Love the colors! However, only one really works. We have put multiple remotes and the green one seems to have an issue. Not sure how that happens!
This is a fun little plug and play retro console, especially if you just want something simple to play with your kids. The games are very old school and the controls feel basic, which is funny since the controllers look modern and have a lot more buttons than the games actually need. I mainly bought this to play locally with my son and it has been great for that. We have gone through a handful of the single player games already and just took turns with the controller. The console only came with one dongle even though it included two controllers, so I had to reach out to the seller. They were quick to respond and sent me the extra dongle which let us play multiplayer games without any issues. Once we had both controllers working we tried out Steel Force which ended up being the highlight so far. It is a top down multiplayer shooter and was surprisingly fun for such a small system. I have not tried the online multiplayer option since that was never the appeal for me, but it is there for anyone who wants it.The controllers are very lightweight and do not feel super sturdy, and the fact that each one needs three triple A batteries is a bit of a downside. Battery life has not been a problem yet since we have only played a couple of sessions. The system comes with thirty games and most of them are simple time killers, nothing mind blowing, but still enjoyable enough when you want to relax or bond with the kids. Overall it does what it promises and has been worth it for casual play.
The NBCP Retro Game Console offers a nostalgic trip, but with a few caveats. While it boasts a variety of games, many were unrecognizable, which may disappoint some users seeking specific titles. The included controllers work, but the controls for the games felt odd and took some getting used to. On the plus side, the console includes two controllers for multiplayer fun, and the design is reminiscent of classic consoles.
This cute, content-packed console by NBCP is fun to have, and it’s a nice system for jumping into a quick retro game with a friend - either locally or online. The kit feels generous since it includes two controllers, and while the build quality is basic (plastic for both the console and controllers), it’s decent for the price. Overall, it’s a nostalgic little system and a nice source of entertainment, though there are definitely areas for improvement. The translation feels unfinished. Setup isn’t fully in English, and the menus can be confusing, especially since the interface switches styles for different settings. Button response can also be finicky, and the documentation on saving states or switching games could be much clearer. In short, it feels a bit like a prototype. You can skip account creation if you just want to play locally, but for online play, you’ll need to register. Last I checked, there weren’t many servers available, and I didn’t see any based in the U.S.One drawback is that the controllers are not rechargeable. On the plus side, I tried a USB plug-in controller, and it worked fine.Overall, this console has potential, but it needs more polish to shine. As it stands, I’d recommend it mainly for players who are really into retro gaming, but it may feel limited for a broader audience.
Very poor packaging, ripped plastic bag. No instructions either
This little plug and play system is very easy to use.Comes with preloaded games that is more friendly for teenagers and adults as opposed to kids based off the games of choice on there. It is easy to connect to any HDMI TV or monitor. It is fun and easy to use.I can recommend it to anyone who would like this, but are on a budget to enjoy some retro games.
