I recently purchased. a Phoenix PM25S microphone. It comes with a nice cord, a clip and a nice case. The microphone is made of all steel Construction and feels good in my hand, I was very impressed with the fact that there is a octagon shaped ring around the windscreen area, of the microphone so when it set on a uneven surface, it doesn’t roll away. I know it’s a little thing, but I was very impressed by it. The switch is also a very nice feature I can quickly turn it off, it’s faster than muting ,it on the mixer. The sound of this budget friendly microphone is impressive with warm laws and clear highs. It’s very well balanced. Sounds very close to the shire SM 58. I found the feedback suppression to be very good. It seems to have good strong output. I would definitely buy it again. For the price. It’s a great value.
A very professional grade, level of microphone for speeches, singing, karaoke, etc. The microphone comes with a five metre cable. The ends have the three pin XLR connection to connect directly into the Audio Equipment. The microphone head has the foam inside the metal mesh. It does make it easy to remember to have it as it reduces crowd noises, wind noises, and other generic background noises. It annoys me greatly when someone uses a microphone without the foam or fluffy cat unit over the end to stop the wind buffering it sounds. The having the ON/OFF button on the microphone is brilliant. When using it and want to have it OFF when having a private conversation, it is Off. Also being wired, it only has output on the sound system it has been plugged.
This one feels identical in weight and build to the standard version—heavy, metal, and durable. The sound is also very similar; clear vocal reproduction, good rejection of room noise. The key difference is the on/off switch. The switch itself has a reassuring, solid 'click' to it; it doesn't feel flimsy, and it doesn't make a loud 'pop' through the speakers when used. This is useful for me when I'm controlling my own sound from the stage, letting me mute the mic during breaks without having to go to the mixer. The supplied cable and clip are fine. It's a practical, sturdy microphone for live speech or announcements where a quick mute is needed.
Ok, to start off, I used this only once before using it in a gig, and holy moly was it wonderful!!! It’s crisp and clear with barley any EQ and Compression, feels heavy enough to be professional!! Like I have no complaints!! It’s just the best bang for the buck 100%!!!
I'm not doing live shows right now, so I gave the Phenyx Pro to a friend to test it at some gigs. First, she ran it direct into the PA without a board. She said the sound was crisp and clear. However, the mic lacked bass and was a bit on the treble side. Her voice is higher. In the studio, she always needs more bottom end.At the next gig, she ran it through her board, and A/B'd it with a Shure SM58. For those who are unaware, the SM58 is considered the standard for live lead vocals. Through the board, the Phenyx was very close in sound to the SM58, but with a little less body. She feels it would be perfect for a front person with a husky or deeper voice, as well as for public speaking, podcasts and radio. (My tester has also been a radio DJ.) Or you could tweak the sound via your board to get the tone you need. Given the price, she was pleasantly surprised!
I have used tons of mics and I have to say this mic sounds clean and picks up really well great quality and nice included cable clip and pack...
This is an excellent mic on the more budget end of the spectrum. it's obviously a clone of another very, very well known mic in the SM58, and it does a really good job of getting you 95% of an SM58 for half the cost. It's really solid, made fully of metal and completely silent if you hold it, with no microphonic feedback. Noise rejection seems good as you'd expect from a dynamic mic and the noise floor is good. I had the gain cranked before it got too noisy to be acceptable and realistically, that was much higher than I would ever actually use. Quite warm sounding and definitely has a little V scoop, it's essentially good to go without any messing about if you wanted. With a little EQ, it's as good as anything for me. I have used it for both vocals and guitar cabs and it done a stellar job on both. My only criticism would be that the case is only a soft case and the XLR cable is a bit flimsy, but I mean, that is exceptionally harsh criticism, the fact you get them at all at this price is phenomenal value in my opinion. Great mic that represents the sweet spot these days of mid-range budget gear that is well made and gives solid performance way above what you might expect.
As a presenter and entertainer, I need good mics that won't break the bank. Phenyx Pro has been my go-to. This PM-25S has proven to be a mic worthy of daily use. The mic is voiced to help vocal cut through the background noise. This makes a presenter or singer strain a bit less. The mic has good weight to it. It seems durable with a metal frame and windscreen. I use the switch a lot. As long as that lasts, this mic will be around for a long time!! The Karaoke crowd loves it as well
Its a very good microphone for its price point. I utilize this microphone as a wired backup and in a mobile DJ set up. I would compare this microphone to the V2 switch in clarity. I utilize this only as a talking mic but it could be utilized as a singing mic as well.It comes with a decent length xlr cable and a leather bag. I was very surprised in the quality in its price range.
Not bad, well made
This is another quality offering from Phenyx Pro, this time with the PM-25S dynamic mic. Its construction, looks and usability are exceptional. My Daughter has been testing this out in her home studio, as she is an independent musician. Like many artists she normally uses the well know SM58 dynamic mic, however, the PM-25S certainly gives it a run for its money. The sound quality is very similar, and yet the the PM-25S is around half the price of the SM58. The vocal clarity impressed my daughter, without the need of to much gain. As the mic has a cardioid pattern it does minimise on background noise and interference. The mic delivers a crisp, full bodied and well balanced vocals. The mic packaged comes complete with the PM-25S mic which has an on/off switch, mic clip, 5M XLR cable, leather look storage pouch and cable tie. You have every needed in the box to hook up ready for a live performance, or at home. This mic is Ideal for beginners, because of its price point, but not only that advance users will be pleasantly surprised with the sound quality. To get the best out of this mic, its always best to follow the guidelines when positioning the mic, trying to keep it away from PA speakers etc. My Daughter is now eager to try this out live on stage at one of her next performances with her alternative rock band.
Here is my review of the Phenyx Pro PM-25S. Right out of the gate, I love the beveling around the grill. SO THAT IT WONT ROLL OFF ANYTHING WHEN YOU SET IT DOWN! Singers always put their mics down everywhere and the mic rolls right onto the floor. this is a great feature!. the on and off switch is handy. the included cable and heavy duty clip are awesome. the sound quality is great and holds up and the full metal casing will help in the rough nightly gigs.
I previously bought a Phenyx Pro PM26 and was very happy with the performance, likening it to a Sennheiser E835 / Shure Beta 58 so I figured I’d try the PM25S since it has a switch, for a talkback mic at FOH.First off, hotter output than the Beta58 I was using with nearly identical sound…. For $50????$120 cheaper than the beta with pretty much dead on sound? The build feels sturdy, with a nice weight (same as the Beta58), doesn’t feel “cheap” at all.The switch (the reason I purchased this mic) feels great, not loose or flimsy. A nice tight “click” when switching.Personally I’m against mics with switches for performance (can hit the switch off mid performance) - but it’s a talkback mic and in my situation (FOH talkback) I didn’t need anything super fancy or expensive so this is perfect. And seriously, this sounds just as present and full as a mic twice plus the price.Living in South Florida, it’s condo land and I will be recommending this mic to condo boards for their meetings (price, sound, and ease of functionality for those not so super tech savy / familiar with muting mics on mixers). Also, bands on IEM’s - if you need a talkback mic on stage, and you do, here’s your inexpensive solution! (Just remember to turn the switch off when not using so you don’t get all that stage noise in your ears).Phenyx Pro is really killing it, buy their stuff before the prices start to resemble the quality. :)
