This is a great little set of art supplies at a modest price. I got it for the family's resident artist and he was very appreciative of it, saying that it includes a good variety of items that work well for his uni-level art pieces. A decent low-cost christmas gift for kids or young adults with an aptitude for art.

This is actually for a Christmas gift. But looking at it, it looks like it will meet all the requirements for a young artist starting out.

My son is taking an online drawing course and needed some new art supplies for it. I’ve bought the Kalour drawing pencil set a couple of times before and was always impressed by the quality and affordability, so I had high hopes for this set too.It has just about everything he needs, except for a pencil-style precision eraser, which he uses for highlights and small details. The items are neatly arranged, and each one has a fabric elastic strap to keep it securely in place. The padded storage case is wonderful! It’s very sturdy, and the zipper still opens and closes smoothly after having used it many times. For me, the case alone adds a lot of value because it keeps everything organized and can be reused with replacement items if needed.I was really happy to see that the included drawing pencils are the same ones we’ve used before, and that it comes with three different sizes of blending stumps instead of only one. Beyond the drawing pencils, he uses the coloured pencils quite often as well. They are nicely pigmented and easy to blend. My son likes the neon ones more than he thought he would, since he likes drawing cars and those bright neon colours are the kind you often see on sports cars. The metallic ones also work well for that purpose, but the metallic finish is fairly subtle. He’s not huge into painting, but he briefly tested out the watercolour paints. The watercolour pencils blend out quite well, and though the watercolour cakes aren’t super pigmented, they are still usable and work well with the watercolour brush. There are a few other basic accessories such as a pencil sharpener and sanding block, and they work as you would expect. My son has been using the paper that came with this set, and it seems to be the same as the art paper we usually buy—not the highest quality you can get, but still works well.Overall, I’m really happy with this art set. The quality is very good and it came with everything my son needed for his art course. Since it’s so affordable, I would buy another in the future if I needed. Thanks for reading! I hope this was helpful.

I picked up this Kalour 206-piece drawing art set hoping for a compact kit I could take along when I travel. I was pleasantly surprised by how complete it is. It includes a wide variety of drawing and painting tools in a sturdy nylon zippered organizer, which makes it easy to pack and carry.* Style & Appearance: The set comes in a neat, travel-friendly nylon zippered case. Inside, the arrangement is tidy and well organized, making everything easy to access. I only had one thing that wanted to fall out and that was the pencil sharpener, so stay alert for that.* Variety of Supplies: This kit truly covers everything you think you might need for art on the road and then some. It includes watercolor pencils, dry watercolors, charcoal, oil-based colored pencils, sketching tools, a water brush, a regular brush, blenders, a sharpener, an eraser, and multiple types of paper. I was a little irked that 30 pieces of this 206-piece set was comprised of paperclips. A pair of small, cushioned quality scissors, a very small plastic palette, a small straight-edge ruler and/or a small sketch board (with clip) would have been far more handy than paperclips.* Watercolor Pencils: These are good quality, dissolving nicely with water to create soft washes of color. I've used Kalour watercolor pencils before and have found that they're reliably good. You do have to watch out for pigment crumbles at times.* Dry Watercolors: The watercolor palette is dry and is convenient for travel, though they do not match the richness of traditional wet paints. I wonder if they may crack over time, especially if they get jostled during travel, but so far they have held up. You might want to take a paper towel or two along with you inside your case...for watercolor dabbing and also for quick clean-ups if one of the dry watercolors cracks.* Colored Pencils: These are oil-based and have strong pigment. They lay down color smoothly. A few were not as sharp or as long as the others, but overall they performed well.* Brushes & Eraser: The inclusion of both a water brush and a standard brush is very handy. The eraser is effective and does not tear the paper.* Paper & Books: The sketchbook is small but good quality, with three paper types (white, black, and beige). The watercolor postcards are a handy addition for travelers, and the paper quality is strong enough for light washes or dry brushing (which I tend to lean on). The owl tutorial is well done and I think it would be reasonably easy to follow for total beginners. The included coloring book, however, felt totally out of place and was a let-down. Its childlike look detracts from the otherwise adult feel of the set. A few of the pages are just cute and anime and fine for kids and adults. Some are basically for three year-olds. Some of the imagery, such as the witch, mandalas and Hindu themes, was not appealing to me, but I just tore out what I didn't like and moved on.* Functionality: Everything works together nicely, and it is convenient to have such a wide range of tools in one portable case.* Durability: The case feels sturdy and should stand up to travel. The supplies inside seem of good quality overall.* Value for the Cost: At 25.99 at the time I'm writing this, this 206-piece set is a good value given the variety, quality, and portability.* Strange Note on Back of Wrapper: There was an odd note on the back of the wrapper that made me wonder if this is actually Kalour product. But inside it looks like other Kalour products I have.* Bottom Line: This is a well assembled and practical art set that works well for travel or at home. With a better choice of coloring book that had more universally appealing art (with designs like flowers, birds, butterflies, planes, trains, libraries, cityscapes, cafes, architecture, etc.), it would feel even more polished, but the core supplies are excellent. Overall, I'm really happy I got it. I definitely will give this as a gift as the occasion arises.

This set has a TON of pieces and the quality seems actually pretty decent. This is a great gift for the kid who is getting into art! Lots of different things to use and explore before putting money into higher quality items. I love the case that it comes with to store it all. Reasonably priced for how much you get. I didn’t love that the sketchbook had witches/halloween though.

This is an amazing starter set, travel set, or even for kids to use. We used it for travel and it was a huge hit.Normally when we bring our kids to the grandparents, we pack along their colouring books, pencil crayon case, and they take a bunch of pencils and their sketchbooks. Sometimes they forget something like a sharpener or eraser, and everything is all over the place. Then, one of them comes home with pencil-smudged fingers from blending. I've bought them (and myself) so many different art supplies and sometimes it's hard to keep track, take everything we think we'd need, or to avoid getting overwhelmed by quantity. This kit has a good quantity and variety of supplies, and has everything you'd need so you don't forget anything when traveling. Even if you're not traveling, it's nice to have everything in one place. The variety of colour is also really nice and not overwhelming, and my kids appreciated the blending sticks and the paints! There's also an instruction book and colouring book they had fun with, but they did not want to share the sketchbook. The quality of the supplies is very nice, and the two eraser types and pencil extender are really thoughtful touches that make this a great set all-around.For around $36, the KALOUR 206 Pieces Art Supplies Set is a great value, and we'll be getting another set so our kids can each have their own compact "artist workshop"!

This art kit has a huge amount of variety which makes it really useful for trying out different styles or always having what you need when traveling. It is pretty rare to find a kit that includes standard pencils along with watercolor cakes and metallic options all in one place. The zippered-case is definitely my favorite part because it keeps everything organized and easy to grab when I want to draw. Most of the pencils feel like they are good quality. Considering how many tools you get inside, plus the nice case, it is a solid choice for the price.
