Okay so… I just tried fruitcake for the very first time. Like, ever. I always heard people dragging it during the holidays like it’s the worst dessert to get, so my expectations were low. But it's not that bad at all. The packaging is cute. The cake came in one piece, nothing crumbled, and the little tin is adorable. I’m 100% reusing it for something else. The cake itself is moist, soft, and the little chunks of fruit and nuts give it this chewy crunchy texture. It wasn’t overly sweet. I thought it would taste like straight sugar. I could totally see adding a drizzle of honey if you like it sweeter. I think it’s best with coffee or tea because it balances out the richness. Do I suddenly love fruitcake? No. It’s not my favorite dessert and I probably wouldn’t crave it or buy it again, but it also isn’t the horrible holiday punishment people make it out to be. It’s interesting, it’s flavorful, and you can tell it’s baked and packaged with care.Pros:• Came perfectly packaged and fresh• Cute collectible tin you can reuse• Moist and soft texture• Chewy fruit and nut mix keeps it interesting• Not too sweet, pairs well with coffee or teaCons:• Fruitcake still isn’t my personal go-to dessert• Can feel a little dense if you prefer lighter cakesFinal thoughts:Fruitcake is not the villain it’s made out to be. Even though it’s not going on my dessert favorites list, I’d still give it a 4/5 because of the quality, the care in packaging, and the overall flavor.
The tin is adorable and really elevates the fruitcake. I like the candied fruit on top, the presentation is really good and the size is perfect for dessert. The cake was fairly moist and flavorful, a lot better than other similar items. You could easily gift this as a hostess gift. I look forward to seeing what other tasty items become available from this bakery.
I grew up getting Collin Street Bakery fruit cake each year in Texas. When I left Texas, the fruitcake followed me -- with my parents sending a fruitcake each year thereafter, no matter what city I was in. Its been forty (cough cough) years of Collin Street Bakery fruit cakes. I LOVE these fruit cakes. If you have not had one, you are missing out one of the finest parts of Christmas holidays. This mini fruitcake is adorable, perfectly sized for a coworker or employee gift, and it has a small reusable tin. The tins are a bonus with these fruit cakes -- you can use the tins for SO many things. We have magic sand in several, rubber bands, safety pins -- they are perfect for organizing and stacking. The cake itself is very dense and a little chewy, that's intentional, its more like a mallow or candy, not a cupcake / airy cake. This one is "deluxe" and has extra pecans on it. The fruit in this fruitcake is a candied fruit -- and bright green and red. This small mini fruit cake can make about 4-5 slices. It says it could be for around 7 people, this that is too small a slice for anyone to actually have!! I would think about 4-5 is best given this size. It is such dense and sweet cake that you can't eat too much, its more to nibble on and savor. This is delicious when paired with apple cider, milk or coffee. For the pricing of $24, this is a good value for your money. The larger fruit cakes from this same brand are around $40, but they serve around 3x as many people. Money spent on a Collin Street Bakery fruitcake is always well spent!!
Absolutely the best fruitcake you can buy. Full of nuts And fruit. Been a fan for years. You can't go wrong. Comes in a festive container. Stores in fridge, but it won't last long because it Wiill be gone because its so good
I'm older, and fruitcakes were a staple during the holiday season. Nowadays, most don't bother making them, as they can be time consuming and complicated. I think a lot of younger people have never tried them. I wanted my grandchildren to try one without dealing with the issues of making one. This is why I was interested in this Collin Street Bakery Mini DeLuxe Fruitcake in Collectible Gift Tin.Pros:- Well-sealed. Comes in a cute little tin.- Fresh.- Full of fruit and pecans.- Moist. Dense, as is traditional. Delicious.- Great quality.- Reasonable price when compared to other quality fruit cakes.Cons:- None.Overall, this is a delicious fruit cake. The size is nice for those who only like a little or want to give it as a gift. In my case, it is a great size for the grandchildren to try it and have a little slice. It does travel well. The little tin was a hit. It's funny because I had this sitting on my kitchen island. Everyone, over the course of a week, commented, "What a cute little tin." I had to stake claim on that little tin for when the cake is gone. This is a delicious, great quality fruit cake. We enjoyed it a lot. It would definitely make a nice gift for any fruit cake fan. I think the price is reasonable as these are typically expensive to buy and to make. This is something that I will get again in the future.
As delicious as I remember when I lived in Texas and visited the Collin Street Bakery many times. Quality is still as expected.
I can not believe how great tasting this fruitcake is. I don't remember liking fruitcake but that has been a long time ago, I tried it and wow is it good. This fruitcake did not make it through the afternoon, it's just too tasty. Quality seems good and it was fresh. It does bleed into the plastic it's wrapped in just a little bit. The only bad thing I can say about this is it's not the best value for money, you can get some really good fruitcake that are larger for the price at this time or a little cheaper
Tasty fruit cake in a nice tin.It seems to be fairly fresh. (How can you really tell with fruit cake?)It seems to be of good quality. Everyone seemed to like it.It's a good value.
