This is a great little mini drone for beginners and kids. I don't have a ton of experience working with drones, but I found the instructions to be pretty clear and set up was easy for me. I'm relatively tech savvy so that probably does help, but I'm not a complete expert and still need directions. The remote is easy to use and you could use it without connecting your phone at all, but then you won't be able to use the camera which is a pretty cool feature. The camera is fun to use to see on rooftops for missing toys or just for fun flying around looking at random stuff. There is a holder on the remote that helps you see while you're flying at the same time, but you can also use the app and the phone to fly without the remote really. it just doesn't feel as natural as having a remote in your hands. Overall this would be a fun gift to give any kid that's interested in this kind of toy, and I like that it comes with lots of extras in case you need to fix something after running into a tree or something accidentally. Battery life was also decent, usually around 15 min each which is about standard in my experience.

Update: I realized that this drone was not behaving as it should when a friend got another kid-level drone and had none of the problems I did. They pointed out that this one was misbehaving on its own after a couple of minutes and was not responding well, like the other one did. Soon after, this one lost some power in one of the arms so that side can't lift, and it's apparently not fixable. I'm really disappointed as I was enjoying it.This is my first close encounter with a drone and the first time I ever flew one. If you’re a veteran of drones, you probably can learn all you need from the quick start guide, if you even need that. I, however, needed the User Manual and did not at first find it, so I struggled a bit. By the time I found it I’d pretty much learned the basics by trial and error and crashing a few times (fortunately at low altitude) and watching online instruction videos for other drones, which gave me a general idea. Once I found the User Manual it put the finishing touches on my basic comprehension, so I went to a park and after more trials and errors got it into the air and was able to go through lower level commands and fly it around for a while. It’s still in one piece, so I consider it a success. A light wind (7mph per my weather app) made it a little more challenging, so if it’s also your first time you may want to wait until it’s still out. I’m feeling optimistic that I’ll be able to learn to fly more confidently soon. It’s great that there are two batteries as they aren’t the fastest charging ones I’ve ever used. This is a great beginner’s drone in my opinion as a beginner. BTW, I learned that anyone in the US who is flying any drone is supposed to have a license, so you might want to look into that.

I guessed this was going to be on par with any other cheap drone you get where the battery doesn't last long, it drifts while hovering, etc, but I was plesantly surprised to find out I was wrong. No, it's not a DJI level of drone, but it's still rather nice. Camera quality is much better then expected, as is the range and battery life. It's great that you can plug it into your phone like a higher quality drone to get the live footage, and it also can hover in place (which cheaper drones can't do too well). My kids were able to control it well enough (on par with how well they're able to control DJI drones).Basically, its 5 stars for the price point - if you were spending $100+, then I'd lower the stars as you can get used DJI drones once you start approaching higher prices, but for it's selling price, it's great!

This device was largely used in our backyard and the park in our neighborhood, where I was able to make full use of its soaring capabilities by taking advantage of the wide expanses. Additionally, the addition of two batteries was a kind touch that allowed for a long period of gaming without the need of charging the device on a regular basis. My kid and I were able to remain interested for longer amounts of time because of this function, which meant that our flying sessions were always uninterrupted. This feature, which simplifies the act of flying and minimizes the learning curve, is something that I believe is very helpful for those who are just starting out. My son was able to launch and land the drone with little help, which not only enhanced his confidence but also made the experience more fun for both of us. Additionally, the altitude hold function helped to keep flights steady and under control, which made it possible to do turns with greater ease and to maintain control.
